Sunak urges major polluting countries to slash emissions

  • last year
Rishi Sunak has urged major polluting countries to follow the UK's lead in slashing emissions. Speaking at the Cop28 climate summit in Dubai, Sunak said: "The world needs to do more to tackle climate change.” He continued saying, "We've made real progress, including at the Glasgow summit. But the climate science and mounting evidence of climate-related disasters show that we're not moving quickly or effectively enough.”

00:00 Hi, good evening. I'm here at COP28 with two clear messages.
00:04 First, the world needs to do more to tackle climate change.
00:08 We've made real progress, including at the Glasgow summit,
00:11 but the climate science and mounting evidence of climate-related disasters
00:15 show that we're not moving quickly or effectively enough.
00:18 So I'm calling on major emitters to dramatically accelerate delivery
00:23 on what they've already promised.
00:25 Everyone can do more.
