00:18 Number 10. Justice for the lilies. A bed of rare lilies are mercilessly hacked down by
00:23 landscapers hired by a homeowners association, and plaintiff Teresa Harpster wants justice.
00:30 By any means necessary, apparently.
00:33 Went like that, and it never even touched him.
00:34 What does "went like that" mean?
00:35 Oh, the flower that I had in my head, the dead one, just went like that.
00:38 Did you throw it at him? Is that what you're saying?
00:39 I didn't really throw it at him. I just wanted to show him to look at it.
00:44 She glosses over the parts where she was yelling and throwing flowers at the landscapers' employee,
00:49 but we get the whole story eventually. Harpster gasped and stood open-mouthed as the judge
00:54 read statements from the employee she verbally harangued.
00:57 At the tip-top of her lungs, which she proceeded to push me after that, she said, "If the company
01:01 won't do something about this, I will." And I proceeded to walk away to avoid further
01:06 conflict.
01:07 As the woman is confronted with her own outrageous behavior in comments, it becomes clear she's
01:11 barely containing her anger, even with the judge, who knew one could be so passionate
01:16 about flora.
01:17 I never used any profanity against that young man or him. I never met him until today.
01:22 All right. One other question. I never heard discussed. Will the lilies grow back?
01:27 No, they did not grow back.
01:29 Number nine, rotten roommate. Ex-roommates sometimes have the messiest cases, but this
01:34 one is way messier than you'd think.
01:36 Did you try to get a restraining order?
01:38 Yes, I did.
01:39 And on account of what?
01:40 Due to the fact that my witness couldn't come today, she slammed the door and hit me in
01:44 the face with it that belonged to my second bedroom.
01:47 The plaintiff was unhoused when she met and moved in with the defendant. The defendant
01:51 took her in as an assistant who would help her in getting to doctor's appointments and
01:55 do chores she was physically unable to do.
01:57 She would take me to the doctor's and to get me out of the house, take it and, "It's too
02:03 heavy." Boom, throw it down the stairs. Now I can't use one of the brakes.
02:07 However, allegations of verbal and physical abuse, flimsy handwritten letters in place
02:11 of receipts, and an unfortunate accident on a rug leave more questions than answers.
02:16 When duty calls, duty calls. Pay attention to duty.
02:18 I understand that, but I had my hands full.
02:20 All right, but she says it happened twice.
02:22 Each new piece of jaw-dropping information was enough to make us question how it even
02:26 got to this point.
02:28 Number eight, it wasn't rain. A squabble over the upstairs neighbor letting their dogs use
02:34 the bathroom on the balcony above turned litigious.
02:38 Please don't feign outrage. You know what the lawsuit's about, and don't call out while
02:41 she's testifying. Go ahead.
02:43 I don't have a dog. I live on the second floor. The neighbors who lived above me before, they
02:47 had a dog. I never had an issue.
02:49 Things got so bad that elevated blood pressure landed the plaintiff in the emergency room.
02:54 Although she had questions about the story, the judge was not too fond of the two defendants'
02:59 behavior.
03:00 Excuse me. You're giving me a perfect flavor of what the hallway was like because if in
03:05 a courtroom you can't control yourself, I can only imagine what the hallway was like.
03:09 They spent the case mean-mugging the plaintiff, feigning outrage, and demonstrating the very
03:14 behavior that they were being accused of, all while trying to smile in the judge's face.
03:19 She didn't buy it, and neither did anyone watching.
03:22 This one gets points for the hilarious demonstration of bucking.
03:26 She made gestures like she was going to do something to us.
03:30 What were the gestures that looked like--
03:32 Like just bucking.
03:33 Bucking and yeah.
03:34 Like that?
03:35 Yeah, just like that.

03:37 Number seven, funeral home spat.
03:41 Plaintiff Alicia Smith shows up to the courtroom with casts and wraps on both wrists, and it
03:46 just gets crazier from there.
03:47 A disagreement about funeral expenses for a relative led to a physical altercation between
03:52 an aunt and her niece.
03:54 Everybody was like, "Ooh." They said, "Ooh," and then that's when I went to her and I grabbed
03:59 her. She took her teeth in her mouth and bit me here.
04:04 The description of the fight itself is pretty intense, but the niece's assertion that her
04:08 dead grandmother and the plaintiff's mom is now haunting her house as a result is just
04:13 the cherry on top.
04:14 Like, I don't want to be home because I'm in the process of trying to move, because
04:19 I don't want to be there because I'm scared.
04:22 Who's still bothering you? Your grandmother?
04:24 My grandmother's spirit.
04:25 Honestly, given the way their family looks right now, it's not surprising she wouldn't
04:29 be able to rest.
04:31 Death is hard. Family strife makes it harder. Throwing hands at the funeral parlor, though?
04:36 Well, we suppose everyone processes grief differently.
04:39 And I was like, "And that's when I bit her arm."
04:42 Okay.
04:43 From there, that's when my uncle came, and he was trying, he was breaking us apart. And
04:47 I was stabbing him in the leg with the pin.
04:49 Number six, not enough donations.
04:52 This is a particularly interesting case about a couple who wanted to get pregnant at the
04:56 same time by the same sperm donor who they found on Craigslist.
05:00 So you put an ad in Craigslist?
05:02 Yes.
05:03 Okay. To, to... that's when you went shopping on Craigslist?
05:07 I mean...
05:08 No, because we had went through, like, other stages.
05:11 When external circumstances and just normal biology played a role in the donor not being
05:15 able to commit to as many daily donations as they wanted, the couple took legal action.
05:21 The case is wild from start to finish. Judge Millian even has to school the room on anatomy
05:26 and the arduous process of getting pregnant.
05:28 You know, wait, I'm going to educate you on a little something. When you're trying to
05:32 get pregnant, it is very medical, okay? It's no longer, "Woo, we're having fun!" That's
05:37 not how it works when you're trying to get pregnant.
05:40 Between the euphemisms and blatant misunderstandings, there's so much to unpack. While it seems
05:45 like the contract was entered into with the best of intentions from both parties, it just
05:49 wasn't detailed enough and ultimately resulted in hurt all around.

06:01 Well, I don't know, because I don't know what you're going to say.
06:05 Number five, kicking the door. Picture it. Devin Johns hires Joseph Moretti and his team
06:11 to replace his pipes with copper ones. On the day of the job, it turns out the pipes
06:15 are already copper, so Moretti thought he'd just charge for labor and save Johns some
06:20 money.
06:21 You're standing right there. Why don't you look?
06:23 I can't see it. He never dugged it up. It's never dugged up.
06:26 I don't understand.
06:27 It's not one less. Why put new copper? I saved him a thousand dollars.
06:31 Johns on the other hand felt he'd paid too much in his deposit for just the labor and
06:35 was seeking the entirety of it back. When the judge awarded him only $200 of the $1,500
06:41 he wanted, Johns showed his true colors.
06:44 I'm going to order you to return a couple of hundred dollars, Tim. I think you had it
06:47 right the first time. I'm ordering you to return $200.
06:50 He kicked the door open on his way out and in a split second lost even the small amount
06:54 he had won. If there's one thing Judge Millian has no patience for, it's property damage,
06:59 especially when it's her property.
07:01 That's exactly the way it happened.
07:02 That's exactly the way it happened. And so you go take care of your man and I hope you're
07:06 going to be okay. And forget it, because I changed my mind. He doesn't get $200.
07:12 Number four, like father, like daughter. While babysitting overnight, the plaintiff awoke
07:17 to a fire the defendant's daughter started, putting her and her own children in danger.
07:22 I see flames. I see the couches on fire, the floor, the walls, the ceiling. I thought that
07:27 I was going to lose everything.
07:29 The defendant didn't tell the babysitter that his daughter had already done something similar
07:32 twice before, nor did he think he was responsible for the damage. Judge Millian knows the score
07:38 quickly.
07:39 Like I said, I don't condone her playing with the fire. I don't condone it. That's why I
07:43 said I'm willing to help you.
07:45 Right, but why don't you give a person a fighting chance and let them know that she's lit stuff
07:48 on fire twice before?
07:50 Despite the fact that so much worse could have happened, the defendant tries every way
07:53 he can to slip out of his responsibility. Clearly, there's no accountability here, and
07:58 that's made even more obvious when the young girl mirrors her father's impatience. Needless
08:03 to say, the judge is not happy.
08:06 You guys are not entitled to be angry. Most of all, an eight-year-old child is not entitled
08:10 to be angry in my courtroom, throwing her hands in the air when she doesn't like what
08:14 the judge said.
08:15 Number three, just the website developer. It wasn't him. He was just following orders.
08:21 A website developer was sued over defamatory and disgusting allegations his site made against
08:26 the plaintiff, who was an advocate for internet safety.
08:30 Like I understand what you're saying. Your argument is, "Oh, judge, I'm just a website
08:33 creator." That's fine if you create a website and hand the keys over, but you're the guy
08:37 actually putting on the pictures.
08:39 The defendant's story about being hired by lawyers who wanted him to post the accusations
08:43 didn't sit well with anyone, let alone the judge. Whether he was playing dumb or truly
08:47 didn't realize he was culpable, the defendant's sulking did nothing to get him out of trouble.
08:53 In fact, it just upset the judge even more.
08:56 Nah, nah. You're in control. You're not only in control, you're a horrible person, because
09:02 you're taking pictures and making them look like something that you know they're not,
09:06 because you have the real pictures.
09:07 He seemed to have no moral qualms about knowingly posting defamatory statements and saw it as
09:12 just another job. This one hit close to home for another reason. Apparently, the plaintiff
09:17 had a previous case that was heard by Judge Millian's husband, Judge Schlesinger.
09:21 Yeah, I didn't know that.
09:24 Yeah, that's my husband.
09:26 Okay, well then, it's a small world. Judge-
09:29 Wow. This is a first.
09:33 Number two, hubris. In this case, two parents allege their teenage daughter was smuggled
09:38 to Daytona by the 21-year-old defendant without their knowledge, and he was the one suing
09:43 the parents.
09:44 Where you come off thinking at the age of 21 that you're a better parent than her actual
09:48 parents, so I don't get it.
09:50 The defendant apparently met their daughter while he was still in high school and she
09:53 was in middle school. The nature of their relationship was argued, but ultimately, it's
09:58 hard to believe it was innocent or platonic.
10:00 You do not, because of whatever Napoleonic complex you have developed, have the right
10:07 to be her parent.
10:09 Allegations flew, but it was pretty clear the plaintiff thought he had the right to
10:13 take a minor away from her parents. He seemed completely unfazed by the whole thing. Nevermind
10:19 how any of it looks from a moral standpoint, the judge absolutely laid into him for his
10:23 hubris in thinking he had the right to do any of that.
10:27 Where did you get this hubris? Where did you get this hubris?
10:32 Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
10:36 Uninhabitable conditions. This landlord is almost too calm as she tries to explain why
10:41 she scammed a tenant.
10:42 You think that's the greater sin?
10:45 Your honor, unfortunately...
10:47 I need to stop hearing your voice. I can't hear your voice for another second. You are
10:52 despicable.
10:53 Keep these dogs off my cows. A farmer shoots his neighbor's dogs when they attack his cows.
10:59 You've got to keep these dogs off my cows.
11:01 Accordion to the law. Clearly, it's rhetorical when the judge asks if anyone can play the
11:06 instrument.
11:07 When did you start playing the accordion?
11:09 My family's from Argentina and they're German.
11:12 Oh my goodness. You've said too much. Go ahead.
11:16 Shady statement. Plaintiff gets in one last dig at the defendant.
11:21 What are you thinking?
11:22 She lied and I should have known better when I seen her hair.

11:45 After six days of being missing, authorities found the plaintiff's troubled 14-year-old
11:50 daughter under her teenage boyfriend's bed. The kicker was that the boyfriend's mother
11:54 knew she was there and didn't tell the police or the parents.
11:58 Why did you lie to the police?
12:00 I thought I was keeping her safe.
12:01 Over and over you lied to the police. Each day they came to your house and you lied.
12:05 Judge Millian's wrath rained down over the courtroom. She couldn't believe that the two
12:09 parents would obstruct justice and not work in the child's best interest.
12:14 Parents suffering for six days while you did this. Do you understand how lame your answer
12:19 to me? I thought I was protecting her.
12:21 Although at first the co-defendants seemed to understand the gravity of what they'd done,
12:26 the husband later acted completely unrepentant and even got thrown out of the room.
12:30 I think I'm talking to a freaking wall. That's what's happening here. I keep talking and
12:36 nothing's going in your thick head. Because you're so busy trying to be right that you
12:40 don't understand the position. Get out of my courtroom.
12:42 Each new detail unfolded a new and more disturbing layer to the story, and by the end it was
12:47 clear there was more to this than the standard case.
