00:00 Any certain way going back to Philadelphia,
00:03 place where you got injured last year?
00:04 Is there anything in your mind about just going back to that location?
00:09 >> I mean, yeah, I got hurt there and everything.
00:13 But for me, it's week 13.
00:16 We're going on the road in a hostile environment.
00:19 We're late in the season, so every game is obviously big for us.
00:22 And so that's where I'm at with my mindset.
00:24 Am I gonna go back and feel a certain way?
00:28 None of that.
00:29 It's a new year, two new teams, slightly different in ways.
00:34 So that's how I'm looking at it.
00:36 >> Can you take us back to going there, that game, and just kind of how you felt
00:41 about the game plan and your plan of attack going up against that defense?
00:47 >> Yeah, I mean, yeah, we felt good about our game plan and stuff.
00:51 I mean, things obviously just didn't go our way in terms of keeping
00:56 the quarterback healthy, so it's hard to say exactly what we were gonna do and
00:59 all that kind of stuff.
01:00 But once Josh went down, things sort of changed and
01:03 I had to get thrown back in there.
01:05 But in terms of our plan of attack, it's like, yeah, you go into a game feeling
01:10 like what you're gonna do is gonna be good, and so we never really got to that,
01:13 I feel like.
01:14 So I'll just leave it at that.
01:18 >> What about for the Irish players who have gone through significant injuries,
01:22 like Jimmy Garoppolo in Kansas City, Navarro Bowman in Seattle, went to the stadium,
01:25 gave themselves a moment to just kind of take it in about the past in that stadium.
01:30 Will you give yourself a moment or will you just game plan as usual?
01:35 >> I mean, usually every single game, whenever I go in the stadium, yeah,
01:38 I take a little moment just to be thankful for where I'm at and
01:41 the game that I'm about to play in.
01:42 So none of that changes.
01:44 Am I gonna go in there and get all sentimental about, man,
01:47 I've come a long way since, it's not really like that.
01:50 We have a goal in mind and I'm trying to be the best version of myself every week.
01:53 So am I gonna go into the game saying I want revenge and all this kind of stuff?
01:59 It's not like that.
02:00 So I'm just gonna try to go do my job and
02:02 be the best Brock that I can be for this team, so yeah.
02:05 >> I'm sorry, how much better of a quarterback do you think you are now than
02:09 the guy who started that game?
02:10 >> Yeah, I think I've grown just mentally with this playbook, with the system,
02:14 with just the guys that I'm playing with,
02:18 in terms of them knowing what they're gonna get from me.
02:22 And I feel like at the time, I was still trying to find my way in the NFL and
02:27 play consistent and prove to the guys that I can play.
02:29 So now it's all about how can I be consistent every single drive,
02:34 every game, and sort of being able to handle all the factors that come with
02:39 playing quarterback, the noises, keeping guys under calm,
02:45 cool, collected, that kind of stuff.
02:46 So I feel like in that game, or at that time, I don't know if I was that guy yet.
02:51 So I feel like that's the difference.
02:53 >> You've played in a lot of big games already, but
02:57 this has been circled for 11 months.
02:58 Does it feel like a bigger stage, more talk,
03:01 bigger than some of the other games you've played in?
03:06 >> I mean, I guess people can make it like that, really.
03:10 For us, it's like I said, we're later in the year, so every single game is huge in
03:14 terms of going in the playoffs and setting yourself up for
03:17 where you're gonna be at in the playoffs.
03:18 So for us, that's how we're looking at it, that's how I'm looking at it, is, yeah,
03:23 it's gonna be a tough place to play.
03:24 They're a really good team.
03:26 They found ways to win this year, and they're really good.
03:29 And so for us, it's another great challenge.
03:33 But to say, have I had this game circled for the last year?
03:36 It has, honestly, it hasn't been like that for me.
03:38 It's been, how can I be the best from the beginning of the season to where we are
03:42 now, taking one day, one week at a time.
03:45 And this is our next challenge, week 13 in Philadelphia.
03:48 >> There's a chance for some rain on Sunday,
03:50 you had a little bit of that in Cleveland.
03:52 Was there anything from that experience that you took away that maybe you are
03:55 adding to your preparation this week, or
03:56 things that you might wanna do different if it does rain on Sunday?
04:00 >> Yeah, I think sort of just going into it, just being ready for,
04:03 obviously, the rain.
04:04 In Cleveland, it sort of came out of nowhere in a sense, mid-drive,
04:08 it started raining, so it was a little tough to deal with that one drive.
04:12 But to maybe have a plan of, I need a glove, if I don't, if it's downpouring,
04:17 if it's a slight rain, that'll just probably be one of those decisions.
04:21 Once we get there and you see the weather and how it is right before the game
04:25 starts, but those are things that I'll definitely be thinking about.
04:28 >> [INAUDIBLE] >> Yeah, in college.
04:31 >> [INAUDIBLE]
04:37 >> Yeah, I was just talking to my agent and
04:41 sort of what I wanted to do and what avenues I wanted to help out.
04:44 And I feel like I've had a heart for orphans and orphanages.
04:48 And so we looked at some around the area, and
04:51 since I'm here in the Bay Area playing, I was like, let's do one here in
04:54 the Silicon Valley.
04:55 So chose them and wanna help them out with what I can.
04:58 So after the game, do what I can to help raise awareness for their organization.
05:03 It's a great nonprofit, so very thankful for partnering up with them.
05:08 >> Sorry to interrupt.
05:09 Brock, the media people I've talked to this week describing the dialogue around
05:13 this game, say that the Philly people feel like specifically you are the weak link.
05:19 I know you say you play with a chip on your shoulder.
05:23 How does that, does that motivate you in any way that the perception is that you're
05:28 the weak link?
05:29 >> Yeah, that's the first time I've heard that, so
05:31 I don't really know exactly how I feel about that.
05:35 They can think that, that's fine.
05:37 Yeah, I don't really know.
05:40 I'm playing quarterback for the 49ers, and we have a good team.
05:43 I'm just trying to do my job to help them win, so yeah.
05:46 >> Not to belabor the glove thing, but just what are the kind of benefits?
05:51 What do you like about it, what do you not like about it?
05:53 >> Yeah, I think, I mean, if it's a downpouring rain, putting on a glove,
05:57 I think for me at least, sort of just helps.
05:59 Obviously, a little bit more tack on the ball and whatnot.
06:02 If it's a light rain, I don't know if that's necessarily a necessity.
06:06 I feel like I can grip the ball just as fine with or
06:10 without a glove with a light rain.
06:12 So if it's downpouring, I feel like having something to help the hand sort of
06:16 grip the ball, that's really the only difference, so.
06:18 >> At the end of the talk, a couple of your teammates do get involved with the back
06:22 and forth with the Philadelphia Eagles.
06:23 Do you kind of just take a seat back and kind of watch it go on, or
06:28 do you enjoy kind of the spice that your teammates have with that?
06:31 >> Yeah, I mean, I hear stuff around the facility just in terms of like,
06:34 Debo said this, or whoever said this, and I get a laugh out of it and stuff.
06:38 It's funny, but for myself, it's like I said, it's another game for me.
06:42 I have to be prepared to play football, make the right decisions consistently,
06:47 handle the operation of the offense.
06:50 So that's where my mind has to be, not all the other stuff.
06:52 So I obviously don't get caught up in it.
06:55 But I think for Debo or guys that have played the game for
06:59 a while to have fun with it, they can do them.
07:01 And I laugh about it when I hear it.
07:03 So, but I have a job that I have to do, and that's just how I handle it.
07:07 >> What are your impressions of their defensive line, Brock?
07:10 And did you hear at all from Hassan Redick after your injury by chance?
07:13 >> No, I didn't hear from him.
07:16 I mean, it's just the game, how it goes.
07:17 You get hurt, and that's about it.
07:19 But in terms of the D line this year, I mean, they're still very good.
07:24 Obviously, we respect the heck out of them and what they do.
07:26 I feel like it's their heart and soul, their defense.
07:28 It starts with them.
07:29 And I feel like they can control the outcome of the pass game, the run game.
07:35 They do it all, and they're very explosive.
07:37 They get off the ball really well.
07:38 So it's gonna be a great challenge for us.
07:40 I think probably the biggest challenge of the year, so.
07:43 >> What's Debo been like in practice this week?
07:47 What's the energy level been like from him in particular?
07:50 >> I mean, Debo's been Debo.
07:51 He's, I mean, I practice running routes, being explosive.
07:54 Like he goes hard at practice.
07:56 And it's not like he picks and chooses games that he goes hard at practice.
08:00 He's been himself.
08:02 And so he's not trying to turn on a switch and
08:06 act like someone that he's not, he's Debo.
08:08 He's gone hard.
08:09 And so that's really been about it.
08:12 >> Ryan, Randy, Jalen Hurd is doing the tush push.
08:16 Do you say I would really enjoy the opportunity to do that often?
08:20 Or do you say that looks horrendous?
08:24 >> I mean, I don't care if it looks horrendous, if you're that good at it.
08:27 I mean, why not?
08:27 But they've done it.
08:30 I don't know, they have that chemistry with the O-line.
08:34 Obviously Jalen, how strong he is as a quarterback to be able to get one or
08:37 two yards.
08:38 They're consistent with it.
08:39 I feel like it's something that they have down as a team.
08:41 So they do it really well.
08:43 But for us, we have our ways with short yardage and
08:47 we're slightly different in that.
08:48 But we know that and we are who we are.
08:50 So we're sticking to that.
08:51 >> All right, thanks guys.
