00:00 A Buddhist was on his way to Davao del Norte when he fell down a wall because of a earthquake.
00:06 This is what Ma'am Gonzalez learned.
00:08 Power poles in the Barangay Viettagon in Lianga Surigao del Sur were struck by lightning
00:17 in the middle of the magnitude 7.4 earthquake last night.
00:20 Residents were afraid and they were all in a hurry to escape.
00:27 But the owner of this store in the town of San Agustin
00:31 was just crying while his shops were collapsing.
00:35 The worst was that in the middle of the earthquake,
00:38 the priest named Joy Hemarino fell down a wall and left their house.
00:42 He was rushed to the hospital but was dead on arrival.
00:45 His live-in partner and seven-year-old daughter were injured.
00:49 Joy was the only one who was able to survive because of the earthquake.
00:53 The affected family had to endure the damage.
00:57 The power was back to all affected areas
01:00 but two poles were damaged and temporarily closed.
01:04 According to the DND, our Doppler radar in Surigao was also damaged,
01:08 our Doppler radar in Eastern Mindanao.
01:11 NDRRMC in Davao and Caraga is now on a red alert.
01:15 In an announcement, President Bongbong Marcos said
01:18 that he has already sent help to the families affected by the earthquake.
01:22 The Department of Public Works and Highways is investigating the Caraga region
01:26 while the PHIVOCS is monitoring the aftershocks.
01:29 As of 1 p.m., the PHIVOCS has already recorded 819 aftershocks.
01:34 We still have aftershocks that can be registered a few days to a few weeks after the main shock.
01:40 If they can see that there is a crack in their house,
01:42 they should not enter because if it was not damaged during the main shock,
01:46 it might be damaged if there is a strong aftershock.
