00:06 As well as the effect of aftershocks that can be experienced in the next few days.

00:11 We have on the news this afternoon the spokesperson of the Office of Civil Defense, Director Edgar Posadas.

00:17 Good morning, Director. Welcome to the news this afternoon.

00:20 Good morning, Ms. Chirchino and Ms. Luis. Good morning to all of you listening.

00:27 All right, Director. Let's start with the rapid assessment that the OCD is doing.

00:32 Yes. We are busy now. We have red alerted the two regions that are affected, Carada region and Davao.

00:42 So that they can focus on the response efforts.

00:47 They are on the ground right now to assist the NCUs in preparing for the rapid assessment.

00:56 This is very important for us to know what are the needs.

01:00 I heard earlier what Ms. Chirchino said, aftershocks are one of our challenges because there are many after the magnitude 7.4 earthquake.

01:11 We have 1,692 monitors of 8 a.m. and there are 18 here.

01:19 From 1.4 magnitude is strong to 6.6. Earlier this morning, we had a reported tsunami scare because the aftershock is strong.

01:29 But it's actually an aftershock of the 7.4 magnitude.

01:33 Director, in these moments, how many casualties have been reported? Are there any additional casualties compared to the first reported?

01:40 Yes. For now, we are confirming that this is a woman in Davao del Norte. This is the woman who was hit by the tsunami.

01:53 It's possible that this day, maybe due to the results of the assessments of our regional offices, there may be another aftershock.

02:07 But I hope she will remain alone. We also have four injuries. Again, this is possible that this will increase.

02:14 But for now, we are not looking for a missing woman.

02:19 Good to know.

02:20 Director, how is the assistance to the affected residents who are in evacuation centers?

02:26 They are asking when will they be evacuated?

02:30 For now, sir Chino, yesterday we held an emergency response cluster meeting and it was followed by a press conference.

02:40 It was chaired by none other than our SND Secretary Teodoro and DSWD Secretary Usec Cahipe and the members of the response cluster.

02:51 So far, for now, we are happy because we have not received a major request for assistance.

02:59 They said they can still address the needs within the local level and the regional level.

03:08 We are happy because our local governments are empowered.

03:16 But I just would like to assure our affected countrymen that if they need assistance, this is always the reassurance given by the President and the SND,

03:28 that your Office of Civil Defense is here and in the affected regions to provide assistance if they need it, coming from the national government,

03:37 so that it can be filled once it will be needed.
