00:00 Here at Channel 7 we are in the midst of our Hometown Heroes Holiday Toy Drive.
00:06 The event is the highlight of our year and we could not do it without our generous sponsors.
00:13 One of those sponsors is Thomas Law and here to talk to us about how important this is to of course the community is Fred Law.
00:19 How are you Fred?
00:20 Fred Thomas, sorry.
00:21 It's okay.
00:22 Somebody's actually called me before this and asked for Fred Law before and I'm like, "What is one of those?"
00:28 Fred, how are you doing?
00:29 Good, you?
00:30 Good, I'm doing great because it is the holiday season.
00:32 It is.
00:33 And we appreciate you very much for being a part of our Desert Financial Credit Union Hometown Heroes Toy Drive.
00:37 And again, this is important to you because you know firsthand how important the community is.
00:42 Well not only that, I look at it this way, the families that are the beneficiaries of this program,
00:48 either someone in the family or themselves have risked the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
00:53 So to bring a little bit of joy to their holiday, I'm more than happy to do that.
00:58 Yeah, and again it's where we mentioned it's the first responders and our veterans and families in need.
01:04 And kind of like when you go through the community you see that a little bit.
01:08 You said of course those who have given back, it's a great way to give back in doing things.
01:12 Yeah, like I said, I've never served.
01:14 I'm not a first responder.
01:15 I'm not a police officer.
01:17 So if there's anything I can do to help give back a little bit,
01:22 I know even if it's just buying somebody enough money to buy a gift for their kid, it brings a smile to their face.
01:28 It's worth it.
01:29 Yeah, it is.
01:30 And again, we talk about it as a holiday season and you want people to be safe out there,
01:34 which is something that's very important, isn't it?
01:36 Oh yeah, it is.
01:37 I mean because look, even Grandma got run over by a reindeer.
01:40 So I mean if you're out there, especially with the holiday, everybody's shopping, going to holiday parties,
01:47 just be safe, watch out for everybody else on the roadway, make sure we're all getting to the same place.
01:55 You don't need to rush.
01:56 So unfortunately sometimes accidents do happen, but I mean don't take it personal.
02:02 Remember this is a season of giving, not a season of I need to be there.
02:06 Right, and again, if you are in trouble, it's good to give you a call because you're there for them.
02:11 Especially if you don't know something, especially during the holiday, going crazy, you don't know what to take care of,
02:16 you're there to help them if these type of things happen.
02:18 Right, so if you are unfortunately in an accident, you're injured, you can give me a call.
02:21 I can get you to providers.
02:23 I can help you and I'll guide you, or not guide you, I'll take care of the insurance company and navigate that process
02:28 so you can focus on the holidays and spending time with your family and just enjoying the season for what it is.
02:35 Yeah, especially as we start seeing families coming to visit, it's good to be safe out there and do things.
02:40 But I want to get back to, of course, the toy drive.
02:42 Again, this is important to everybody and again, we love that you're doing this.
02:46 And I've got to ask you, do you have any memories of, of course, growing up with Christmas and the holidays?
02:51 There's always one I remember.
02:53 I was still living back east, I was probably five, maybe six, and we just moved into a new house and I wanted a dog.
03:00 And I remember it's Christmas Eve or Christmas morning, like 6am, and I hear a dog barking.
03:06 And I'm like, and my grandmother said, "You don't hear a dog barking."
03:09 I'm like, I swear, I hear a dog barking.
03:12 And sure enough, he comes, this little mutt comes running out, I named him Claws, Santa Claus.
03:19 Everybody thought I named him Claws because he had claws.
03:21 I'm like, no, it's like Santa Claus.
03:23 But that is one of the most distinct memories I think I will ever have of Christmas.
03:26 Because I, up and down, I was like, there's a dog downstairs.
03:29 No, there's not. No, there's not.
03:31 That's great.
03:32 And that's what our toy drive is all about.
03:34 It's about giving those kids, of course, that joy on the Christmas day.
03:39 You know, when they think they can't because the families are in need.
03:42 Parents have to make those choices of, of course, keeping the lights on or buying gifts.
03:46 And that's why you being a part of this toy drive helps them give the families and stuff a wonderful Christmas.
03:51 No, and I'm more than happy to.
03:53 You know, I think these programs you guys do like this, like this, and Stuff the Bus are amazing things.
03:57 And I'm proud to be part of it.
03:59 Fred, we're very happy to have you a part of our team here with this and of course here at the AZTV Channel 7.
04:04 Thank you much.
04:05 Tell them where they can find more about Thomas Law.

04:17 Hey, thank you.
04:18 All right, thank you.
04:19 All right, don't go anywhere.
04:20 Okay.
04:21 All right, hey, coming back up, we got more of the mix after this.
