00:00 pretty impressive on film.
00:02 How far has he come as a blocker?
00:04 >> He's done a nice job in that, and I would say a lot of credit goes to him.
00:09 He's worked really hard on it, not just during practice, but before practice,
00:14 after practice, from things like hand placement, to head placement,
00:18 body position, body control, and all that.
00:20 And he's done a nice job in all those areas.
00:23 And if you watch him throughout the year, it's not always perfect on everything.
00:27 He's always had the will to do it, which is his part.
00:29 >> Hey, how you doing?
00:30 >> Good to see you.
00:31 >> Nice to see you.
00:32 >> I'm sure you were asked where he's at.
00:34 >> Yeah, drop block, angle drop, or combo block, whatever our athletes do,
00:38 he's been doing it.
00:39 And I think that was a great example of that play with Josh Crowe.
00:42 It's a great example of how hard he's come.
00:45 But he can really do it all in one, and he's shown that throughout the course
00:49 of the year, and he's getting better at it.
00:52 >> It was kind of a tough challenge.
00:53 I mean, I guess the knock on him was, hey, he's a great receiver,
00:57 but he can't even block at this level.
00:58 >> Did you guys ever see that as a concern of his work on it, or
01:01 what did you see as a concern?
01:03 >> I would say, like I mentioned earlier, if a guy's a willing blocker,
01:07 that's a huge part of it.
01:09 So as long as he's willing, I think that as a coach,
01:12 you're like, great, we can work with this, let's go.
01:15 And so the hand placement is a big thing with him, not getting it outside,
01:20 and making sure it's in the inside, and getting his legs underneath him.
01:25 He's always been in himself, and worked really hard at that.
01:29 Since training camp, really the last 18 weeks or so,
01:32 it's been since we started camp.
01:33 And even in the spring, we did what we could, and he's done a nice job on that,
01:37 and it's allowed him to play it on, and I feel real comfortable with him in line.
01:41 >> How long has he been with his, is it kind of like he's a runner?
01:44 >> Yeah.
01:45 >> It's kind of stuck out a little bit.
01:46 >> Yeah, I think that's something that's showing up in college a little bit.
01:50 And just catching them all in the restaurants.
01:53 It is something that we try to put an emphasis on with him.
01:56 When he gets a ball in his hands, let's go, let's run.
01:59 We try to punish the guys.
02:00 As long as he takes care of the ball, which is a big part of it,
02:04 then we want him to run as hard as he can, give us more of a scan, and
02:07 he's done a great job.
02:08 >> You guys have worked on the real job, especially lately,
02:11 of just leaking those guys out in the flat, and sort of play fake, and
02:15 things like that.
02:16 Is that just something that you guys saw that you could be effective with, I guess,
02:20 or is that just, can be part of the offense naturally?
02:22 >> Yeah, I think some of the tight ends in general,
02:25 their catches kind of happen mostly throughout the flow of the game.
02:27 >> Things are happening, fast forward, you're always trying to design plays for
02:32 different things, or different coverage, or even different guys.
02:34 But sometimes their catches happen with the flow.
02:37 And so sometimes it's complements to what you're doing in the run game, or
02:41 something you see on film, or during the game, or something you would get
02:44 leaked in the broadcast, or something like that, or do this off the run action.
02:49 And so that helps, sometimes it gets a go with a full house, as well.
02:52 And so I'm probably just a regular top man.
02:54 >> Increasing it, maybe two or three more plays a game,
02:57 that can be a third time of the tour.
02:59 >> I think you have a different particular, but
03:01 I think that all the guys, there's a lot of different elements in your role.
03:04 >> I love all the guys in there.
03:06 >> Sometimes it's as big as a two or three play game.
03:09 >> We talk a lot about Austin Convergence.
03:11 >> Austin Convergence, which gets you three more plays.
03:13 >> Or a guy who plays a great role.
03:14 >> And that's where the margin is based.
03:17 >> In this league.
03:18 >> Every game, every play.
03:19 >> I think those types of things, and seeing you grow that way.
03:22 >> And that's been a lot of the team's issues, but I have no problem with
03:24 throwing him down there.
03:26 He's definitely doing what he's doing.
03:27 >> He calls on the game practice squad guy.
03:29 >> Yeah, he is.
03:30 It's still, I mean, I think it's good for the team.
03:33 >> I'm definitely happy with those guys.
03:34 >> [LAUGH] >> 12 straight weeks is too many.
03:36 >> I love the way they go out.
03:37 I love the way they practice every day.
03:39 And I think it's gonna be good for everybody.
03:41 >> What do you need to see for your tight ends moving forward?
03:45 >> What do I need to see?
03:46 >> Yes, sir, what are you looking forward to?
03:47 >> I think just consistent progress in everything that they're doing.
03:51 I'm really, we're never satisfied with how far they've come.
03:56 Mike has really done well as an every down, every down kind of player.
04:00 I think Koop has done really well.
04:01 I have no issues.
04:03 I'm full confidence putting him in on any down as well.
04:07 I really just think that they need to continue to progress and get better.
04:10 Whether it be in line, whether it be running with the ball,
04:13 whether it be catching the ball, or finishing catches and plays.
04:15 But I just think whatever they've been asked to do, they've been doing it pretty well.
04:20 They wanna continue to do it that way.
