00:00 >> Yeah, I mean, we have been playing well overall defense on the road.
00:04 He's fast to gain.
00:06 He's been late to work for game started slow.
00:09 And that's never gonna help winning.
00:12 So I definitely got to start faster this game and
00:15 we have a tendency of playing well at home.
00:17 So hopefully we keep that up.
00:18 >> What do you think you guys have those slow starts?
00:23 >> I don't think there's an answer why man.
00:30 Just how some games go.
00:32 We can have that if we're the championship defense that we said we are.
00:36 We put on tape already.
00:38 No, we can't run from him and we put.
00:39 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:49 We can't have any slip ups or anything like that.
00:51 So, put this thing in super driver.
00:54 >> When you were watching the game,
00:56 what did you think when you saw Trevor suffer that ankle injury?
00:59 >> Yeah, off the bat I was watching the play.
01:03 I just seen him kind of fall down awkwardly and I was just praying right away that it
01:07 wasn't anything serious because we've already lost so many people in this league.
01:10 This year so I think they said it's a ankle sprain right now.
01:15 So that's great outcome for him.
01:18 So if he's not healthy this week, so be it but if he is, we can pay for him either way.
01:23 >> How much do you guys miss Dan DelBord and expecting back?
01:27 >> Yeah, anytime you have a pro player like Denzel, man, you're gonna miss him.
01:32 Just the stuff that he brings to the table, his leadership.
01:34 His play on the field is remarkable this year.
01:38 So he's feeling healthy.
01:40 I don't know if he'll be back this week, but we can for sure use him.
01:44 >> How do you prepare for coming with Trevor Kim with the ankle sprain?
01:48 Do you kind of prepare for both or do you expect to see Trevor,
01:53 just because it's better to the years to come out on Sunday?
01:57 >> I'm sure he's doing everything in his power to play because this is a critical
02:03 time in the year.
02:05 So of course we're gonna prepare for him.
02:07 He's playing great right now.
02:10 So props to him, but we have to prepare for both quarterbacks in that case.
02:15 >> Despite those two losses in the rally case,
02:17 there's still six in the AFC, I bet, conceding.
02:20 How do you feel about where you're at with the five games?
02:27 >> I feel about, we gotta beat the Jaguars.
02:29 I feel, man, if we don't win it, go one and
02:33 O every week, none of that stuff matters, to be honest with you.
02:35 I don't really look at that.
02:37 I'll focus on Jacksonville.
02:38 >> Grant, how impressive is it to see Black will come in here with,
02:42 kind of coming off the couch.
02:44 >> Yeah. >> And playing as well as he did.
02:46 >> Yeah, that first drive was great to see that as a defense man.
02:50 Unfortunately, we gave up another touchdown right behind that, but
02:54 we love to see the offense go down there and score.
02:56 So whatever he could bring, man, he brings a veteran leadership.
03:00 He throw the ball down the field a lot and he made good decisions.
03:05 So as a defense, we gotta have his back if he's playing well like that.
03:09 So we didn't have it last game, so we're gonna get him this game.
03:12 >> Grant, it was A-Walk who won a couple of awards yesterday.
03:15 >> Mm-hm.
03:16 >> Can you summarize kind of what he means to you guys?
03:19 >> Yeah, man, A-Walk, that's a great choice for
03:22 our team for that ultimate award, man.
03:24 And what's the award?
03:27 >> The security for coming back.
03:28 >> Oh, the head blocker, okay.
03:30 Yeah, he's getting all the awards.
03:32 >> [LAUGH] >> But man,
03:35 this testimony that A-Walk, man, when I first got here, my second year,
03:39 he come back from injury, man, he really helped me out.
03:42 And he's always a guy that you can come to with anything.
03:46 And he's gonna make sure you're right on and off the field, man.
03:49 So definitely a locker room guy, and we were so glad to have him back this year.
03:55 >> You had to come back from your own season to get to the opportunity for
03:58 him.
03:59 What did it say about the way he came back, you spent so much time here,
04:03 rehabbing, and what you saw in him?
04:05 >> Yeah, like I said, when leaders like that have your back, man,
04:09 you gotta have theirs when they go through serious injuries,
04:13 cuz it's a part of the sport.
04:15 It's a tough sport we play, and it's tough mentally as well.
04:20 But guys like him, man, he shows day in, day out,
04:23 same character every day when he walks in the building.
04:26 So I try to preach that to the young guys too.
04:30 >> Is his absence part of the [INAUDIBLE]
04:37 >> I don't wanna say that,
04:39 he's a big voice on the defense.
04:40 He's a Mike linebacker, so he's greened out as well.
04:44 But, hey man, this man gotta step up this NFL.
04:48 We're number one defense in the league.
04:51 You gotta carry yourself like that every time you step on the field, and
04:53 we haven't been doing that in the past two weeks.
04:56 >> [INAUDIBLE]
04:58 >> Start to stretch run for
05:00 playoffs, get back to playing what you're doing, shut this school down.
05:04 >> Yeah, we're gonna play behind our home crowd, man.
05:06 We can't wait to get back in front of our home crowd.
05:08 It's been a long two weeks.
05:10 I know the city of Cleveland needs this win.
05:15 We need wins in general to set ourselves up for the playoffs.
05:18 But we're gonna lean on our home crowd this week.
05:21 >> Regardless of Trevor plates or when you've watched Jacksonville,
05:24 what's the biggest challenge that they present to the defense?
05:31 >> Yeah, I mean, they got playmakers all over the field.
05:33 Kevin really is a crazy right runner.
05:36 He is the most, I think, cause deepest of passing appearances this year.
05:40 Evan Ingram, finally, I get to play a tight end.
05:44 They try to get involved in the game plan.
05:46 Zay Jones, seven years, been around for a while.
05:52 ETN, of course, a strong runner, tries to get to the edge a lot and use the speed.
05:56 And of course, Trevor Lawrence dealing and they got it going.
05:59 They're in a good position right now in Jacksonville, so
06:02 it's gonna be a great game.
06:03 >> Why do you say finally get to play?
06:05 >> It's been cold for me recently, man.
06:08 I like competition games where they try to get tight ends involved,
06:12 be playing safety.
06:13 It goes hand in hand, so.
06:15 >> He gets a lot of calls.
06:16 >> Yeah, he's got a lot of targets.
06:17 He's, I don't know if he's the leading receiver, but
06:20 he's a close second, I think.
06:22 So it's gonna be a good game for me.
06:25 >> [INAUDIBLE]
06:35 >> Of course, just from the aspect of the things the quarterbacks know and
06:45 their leadership role on the team.
06:47 A lot of teams are driven by the quarterback and
06:51 the same teams lose their QB ones, man.
06:53 It's hard, but it's part of the game.
06:55 I'm sure fans don't wanna see it, players don't wanna see it.
06:58 But with anything, man, you gotta move on and next man up.
07:02 >> Grant, I mentioned [INAUDIBLE]
07:12 Do you guys recognize when there's a game in order to that,
07:15 maybe have this grant of pressure behind it because you feel like
07:19 confines closing on trying to get that needed.
07:22 But I was wondering how you guys are handling a lot of that.
07:25 >> Well, that's a good question, but I think we just don't stress about it, man.
07:29 We don't wanna put too much on every week.
07:32 It's too much of a hassle to say every week is a must win.
07:35 Of course, we go into the mentality that we have to win every single week, but
07:39 it's a one and O every week.
07:43 That's the mentality, man.
07:44 I know the fans probably think about it like that.
07:46 It's a lot of people on Twitter with scenarios and stuff like that.
07:51 But we focus on Jacksonville, man.
07:54 And what comes after that comes after that.
07:56 >> You and Miles, you and some of the guys have talked about taking ownership of
08:00 the lot.
08:01 How does this defense hold themselves accountable for the past two games?
08:05 And what do you learn from that?
08:07 >> Yeah, I mean, we put it on us.
08:08 As leaders, as players individually, I haven't been doing enough.
08:12 I'm sure Miles feels the same way.
08:14 Playmakers gotta make plays regardless of the situation.
08:18 But when everybody does their job, everybody does their job, man.
08:23 We have success and we just haven't been doing the little things right.
08:26 We started slow, we've been giving up big plays, that's not us.
08:29 So we're looking to correct that this week, play in front of a crazy crowd and
08:35 get a good win on Sunday.
08:36 >> Thanks Mike.
08:38 >> Thank you, I appreciate it.
