Transcript
00:00 The Department of Trade and Industry reminded the merchants who sell online
00:06 that customers receive their products on time and properly.
00:12 This is Claycel Pardilla's report.
00:14 They are already busy looking for gifts for Sofia, especially because Christmas is coming.
00:26 Most of the gifts we give are both online and in the mall.
00:32 But for me, it's more convenient to give online
00:38 since you don't have to travel in the traffic.
00:43 It's easier to buy online.
00:46 Joseph was able to bring the defective products he ordered.
00:51 That's why he's choosing to buy in the mall.
00:54 When you walk in, you can see the quality of the product.
01:03 But when you buy online...
01:05 President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has signed the Internet Transactions Act.
01:11 The Department of Trade and Industry said
01:14 it will protect buyers and merchants who sell online.
01:20 Under the ITA, the E-commerce Bureau will form a law on online transactions.
01:28 The Code of Conduct will create a database for consumers and sellers
01:33 that will have the right to own online business.
01:36 The priority or the objective of the law is really to build trust in e-commerce.
01:44 Consumers, before you buy, you can check if the merchandise is legitimate.
01:55 Even if the order is fake,
01:58 this holiday, the saleswoman is trying to check the quality of her cosmetics.
02:06 Sometimes, no matter how good or how careful the product is,
02:10 it's still in the courier.
02:14 Sometimes, they can't avoid throwing the product away.
02:17 That's why I put our products that are already in the fragile.
02:22 If that happens, you're deducted a star. Is that so, ma'am?
02:26 Sometimes, it's just one star. It's not my fault.
02:30 DTI will inform business and logistic companies
02:34 on the quality of the products when it's time for consumers to receive them
02:40 and make sure that the parcels or return boxes will arrive on time.
02:46 We avoid the unarrived, the one with a pilfillage or shortage, and you didn't receive it.
02:56 You won't be able to receive your return box if you fly by night.
03:00 You can file a complaint with the Department of Trade and Industry.
03:04 It's included in our mandate.
03:06 You can file a complaint with consumercare@dti.gov.ph
03:11 or file a complaint with the Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau.
03:14 But consumers still need to plan the purchase of the product
03:19 or the delivery of the return box.
03:22 We have the transit time.
03:24 Let's say from Asia, let's say going from Singapore to Manila,
03:29 we're talking about five days transit time.
03:32 So in six days, it will be here in Manila.
03:36 They have to allocate about a week to have it customs cleared.
03:42 If it's from Europe, it's possible to get it within a month or a week if it's only from the country.
03:49 Sometimes, we'll see that your shipment is too heavy.
03:52 It has to be placed in a pallet.
03:55 Yes, pallet. And we have a corner, a cardboard at the sides of the carton
04:03 to avoid pilferage.
04:05 Because sometimes, you'll see corrugated boxes.
04:09 So we cannot avoid that when it's in transit, the damages of the packages.
04:16 From January to October, the Philippine Ports Authority will secure 227 million metric tons of cargo and containers in our country.
04:28 That's what we want to assure our countrymen.
04:32 So far, we have no delay in our shipment.
04:35 And there's no reason for them not to receive their return boxes on time.
04:40 They sent them early.
04:42 Khalei Zalpardilia for the morning show of the country, Rise and Shine, Philippines.
