Transcript
00:00 Everton 3, Newcastle United 0 here at Goodison Park this evening.
00:06 Newcastle's away day struggles in the Premier League continue,
00:10 still just that one away win in the league this season,
00:13 big away win, 8-0 at Sheffield United.
00:16 But generally it's not quite clicking on the road for Eddie Howe's side,
00:20 and it was the same again tonight.
00:23 They were in the game for the most part, it was a game low on quality to be honest,
00:27 Dominic Carvalho missed a couple of sitters to be honest,
00:30 probably one of the misses of the season so far in the first half.
00:33 But Newcastle were wasteful themselves, Anthony Gordon had two good chances,
00:37 both squandered a difficult evening for him on his return to Goodison Park.
00:40 Miguel Almiron had a decent chance as well, his decision making in general,
00:44 got into some good areas, just lacked that final ball, that final shot,
00:48 really off night for him as well.
00:51 But probably the main man, in a lot of ways,
00:55 he's been so key for Newcastle since he arrived at the club, Kieran Trippier.
00:59 But they're in the game, Newcastle 0-0, 15 minutes to go,
01:04 it could go either way, but his slip sort of opens the floodgates at the back,
01:10 and Dwight McNeil bursts through, gives Everton the lead,
01:13 and from there Newcastle just capitulate really.
01:17 Kieran Trippier again moments later gives possession back to Everton,
01:22 and Abdelayek Dekhore makes it 2-0. With that, the result is beyond doubt pretty much.
01:28 Alexander Isak had a half chance to pull it back, dinked it over,
01:31 couldn't get the shot on target, and then Beto off the bench,
01:36 Kieran Trippier again plays him onside, and it's 3-0.
01:40 Everton probably deserved the win, 3-0 obviously,
01:44 but probably wasn't a 3-0 scoreline in the end, on the balance of play,
01:49 it was a game of long quality, and it was just, Everton took the chances at the end,
01:53 as Newcastle just completely fell apart.
01:56 Whether it's the sort of energy levels with such a threadbare squad taking the toll, perhaps,
02:02 but it was just individual mistakes tonight, and a lack of quality in the final third that cost them.
02:08 And hopefully they can bounce back quickly when they visit Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday.
