00:00 Your question, yes.
00:04 We use the maritime communication mechanism,
00:07 and it was used yesterday at 12 o'clock noon.
00:10 The Department of Foreign Affairs launched its
00:12 diplomatic protest with the Chinese Ministry of
00:15 Foreign Affairs counterpart to a phone call.
00:18 And in terms of the demarche undertaken by our
00:21 Philippine embassy in Beijing, yes, we confirm
00:26 that our Philippine embassy in Beijing has made a
00:29 demarche to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign
00:31 Affairs official yesterday concerning the
00:34 Bahaudin Masinlog incident and the Ayungin
00:36 Shoal incident.
00:38 As I also mentioned, we are also summoning the
00:41 ambassador from the Chinese embassy in Manila
00:44 later this afternoon to protest the incident.
00:47 These actions violate the Philippines' sovereignty
00:50 and jurisdiction, and are a threat to peace, good
00:54 order, and security.
00:57 We reiterate that the resupply mission to the
00:59 BRP Share Madre and Ayungin Shoal on 10 December is a
01:03 legitimate exercise of the Philippines, given that
01:07 the feature is part of our exclusive economic zone
01:10 and continental shelf.
01:12 The Philippines has sovereign rights and
01:14 jurisdiction over it.
01:16 As a low-tide elevation, Ayungin Shoal can neither
01:19 be subject of a sovereignty claim, nor is
01:23 it capable of appropriation under international law.
01:27 It is regrettable that yesterday, the 10th of
01:30 December, is also the 41st anniversary of UNCLOS, and
01:35 the day was commemorated with such violation
01:38 of the convention.
01:39 Thank you.
