Rainy week ahead due to ‘habagat’, potential weather disturbance

00:00Mahinang Habagat or Southwest Monsoon is still swarming here in the western sections of Luzon and Visayas.

00:08It is expected that there will be heavy rains and thunderstorms in the remaining part of the country.

00:14We have cloud clusters that are being monitored here in the West Philippine Sea

00:18and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, outside the area of responsibility in the east of Mindanao.

00:26We are not taking away the chance that this will be a low-pressure area within 24 hours and our TAR will also enter.

00:33And it is possible that on the first days of September, it will still bring rains to a large part of our country,

00:39especially in southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

00:44Today, it is still expected that there will be rains in the western sections of Luzon,

00:48including Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro because of the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.

00:55It is expected that there will be light to moderate, with at times, heavy rains and gloomy weather in these areas

01:00but still be careful of possible floods and landslides.

01:05In the remaining part of Luzon, it is expected that it will still be cloudy,

01:08with sometimes cloudy skies and areas that are sunny this morning.

01:13While here in the Bicol Region, before dusk, it is possible that there will be heavy rains or thunderstorms.

01:18While in the remaining part of Luzon, including Metro Manila,

01:22it is also possible that there will be isolated rain showers or thunderstorms

01:25that will last for two to three hours.

01:28In Metro Manila, the temperature is between 26 to 32 degrees Celsius.

01:33Likewise, in Partin Lawag and Legazpi, it is possible that it will be up to 32 degrees Celsius of heat.

01:37While in Tuguegarao and Cagayan, it is possible that it will be up to 35 degrees Celsius of air temperature.

01:44To our fellowmen in Palawan, it is still expected that there will be heavy rains

01:47because it is still possible that it will be rainy season,

01:49which sometimes becomes stronger, especially in the afternoon.

01:52This is the effect of the Southwest Monsoon.

01:54While here in the majority of Visayas, it is cloudy and the skies are usually cloudy

01:59here in the northern portion, in Panay Island and Samar Provinces.

02:04And there will be heavy rains or thunderstorms in the majority of Visayas

02:09until afternoon and evening.

02:11Our temperature in Metro Cebu is between 27 to 32 degrees Celsius.

02:16And lastly, to our fellowmen in Mindanao, it is expected that there will be sunny skies

02:20in the morning until afternoon.

02:22While in the afternoon and evening, there will be a lot of areas where there will be heavy rains

02:28or localized thunderstorms that will last for one to two hours.

02:33Our temperature here in Metro Davao and Zamboanga City is between 33 degrees Celsius

02:39until afternoon.

02:42And for the time being, in the next four days,

02:46we are repeating that within 24 hours,

02:48cloud clusters will be possible in our area of responsibility

02:53and it will be a low-pressure area.

02:55And when it enters the PAR, it is possible that it will move to the northern portion

02:59while here in the ocean, in the Philippine Sea,

03:01and it will remain far from our land.

03:04So, this is the effect of the trough or the extension that we mentioned,

03:08the weather disturbance.

03:09Plus, it is also possible that it will influence the extension of the southwest monsoon

03:14here in the areas on the other side of our country.

03:17So, by tomorrow, the day of Saturday,

03:19it is possible that there will be rains here in the eastern side

03:22because of the trough, especially in the afternoon,

03:24in the Samar Provinces, Caraga Region, and areas in the Davao Region,

03:28especially in Davao Oriental and Davao de Oro.

03:31So, be careful of the rains there.

03:33There may be floods and landslides

03:35while the southwest monsoon will still remain weak

03:38and there will be rains in Palawan and parts of Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Region,

03:43and Socsadzen, especially tomorrow afternoon until the evening.

03:48Then, when the first days of September arrive,

03:51that's Sunday until Tuesday,

03:53there will be more places where there will be rains.

03:56This is the effect of the combined southwest monsoon

03:58plus the effect of the low-pressure area

04:00while the eastern portions of Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas are slowly moving up.

04:06So, there are areas like Mimaropa, Bicol Region, a large part of Visayas,

04:12Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga Region

04:16where there will be rains from Sunday until Tuesday.

04:19So, sometimes, there will be heavy rains.

04:21So, be careful of possible floods and landslides.

04:31When Monday afternoon arrives until Tuesday,

04:34there is a high chance of rains here in Calabar Zone
