00:00 Even the retirees who are receiving their pension are using the same ATM

00:04 where their ATM card is being used as collateral.

00:07 The SSS has a program to avoid this.

00:11 Let's see.

00:12 Whenever the pension received is not enough,

00:18 some retirees are forced to borrow

00:21 and use their ATM cards as collateral

00:25 where their pension is being used.

00:27 There is no law that prohibits the so-called "Sangla ATM" in the country.

00:31 But according to the Central Bank of the Philippines,

00:34 it can cause problems

00:37 because the cardholders cannot monitor the money being issued

00:41 using their ATM card.

00:43 There could be a delay and withdraw more than the amount of money borrowed.

00:48 To avoid the "Sangla ATM",

00:51 the SSS is urging their retiree pensioners

00:54 to use the Pension Loan Program or PLP.

00:58 The 10% interest on the PLP is lower

01:02 compared to what other people are asking for.

01:05 Qualified retiree pensioners

01:07 can borrow an equivalent amount of 12 months of their pension

01:12 or a maximum loan of Php 200,000.

01:15 The SSS will also ensure

01:18 that they can still get back 47.25% of their monthly pension

01:22 while paying their debt.

01:24 To apply for a loan,

01:26 a retiree pensioner should be under the age of 85

01:30 after paying the PLP.

01:32 The pension status should be active,

01:35 no other loan is being paid,

01:37 and the pension is not advanced under the SSS Calamity Assistance Package.

01:42 The address and mobile number of the pensioner should also be updated.

01:46 They can apply to the nearest branch of the SSS

01:49 or through their My.SSS account.
