00:14 We can say because you practice family law, which is very important to a lot of people
00:19 But let's explain a little bit what what you do too because I think when people think of family law
00:23 They right away think of divorce, but that's not always the case is it? No, it's not and certainly we do handle divorces
00:29 But also we handle legal separations for parents who are unmarried
00:35 We will work with them with parenting time, which we used to call custody, but we don't say that anymore
00:39 Legal decision-making child support we can do modifications if people are not married yet
00:45 We do prenups if they're already married we can do post naps. We do orders of protection
00:50 So it really does encompass a lot more than divorce. Okay, what's a post nup?
00:54 I don't think I've ever heard of I know I've heard a prenup but post nups
00:57 What are post nups post nups are basically prenups for married people?
01:00 So a prenup is we're going to get married and here's how we want to
01:04 Split up our assets and debts in the event of a divorce a post nup is we're already married
01:10 But maybe we don't get along financially, but we don't want to get divorced so you can
01:15 Contract on how your assets and debts will get split up in the event of a divorce even though you're already married Wow
01:22 That's interesting. I never thought about that. Hmm
01:26 Also - I think what's very important is that you guys know how to help people through the
01:31 Court system it can be very difficult
01:34 Especially if you are going through divorce and you have the family there and that's why they should call upon someone and try instead of
01:40 Trying to go through it on their own. Am I right?
01:42 Absolutely. I mean there are some very simple cases the Maricopa County does have a great website
01:47 But a lot of things get left out the forms aren't perfect
01:50 So it is generally better to speak with an attorney
01:53 We tell our clients listen the process is gonna suck. All we can do is make it suck less
01:57 Yeah, that's very important right there
01:58 Also - it's not always a bad divorce that you deal with sometimes there my ex-wife and I we had the perfect divorce
02:05 I would say because we still get along we're very family and that's what we sat down and did
02:08 But we had someone who walked us through things because it was unusual
02:11 We weren't fighting over anything or stuff like that, but we still needed to see somebody
02:15 Yes, so generally there is now a process called summary consent where you can file the petition and the response together
02:21 So that's a relatively new about a year old process and even if you do agree on things
02:27 You may leave things out. So you're getting along now and you agree on who's gonna have Christmas with the kids
02:33 Maybe you don't agree in two years. Well, when does Christmas start? When does it end if you haven't set that up?
02:38 You're gonna be spending a lot of money trying to reach lawyers on December 24th
02:42 Yeah, so that's very important there. So and that's why you're important to the Glendale area
02:46 You're part of the Glendale Chamber of Commerce. So it's very nice out there
02:49 And I want to switch a few gears right quick and that is you started doing stand-up. I did. This is great
02:55 What made you want to do that?
02:56 You know people kept telling me I should and then someone alerted me to a class at stir-crazy in Glendale
03:03 And I took it and fell in love with it
03:04 Yeah, that's great
03:05 And it helps you of course when you're talking with families because you want them to feel comfortable and and no nuts
03:10 It's definitely serious
03:11 But it's also to be very light hearted and comfortable a little bit when you are going through things with them, isn't it?
03:16 I think the businesses have helped each other
03:17 I've definitely gotten some material from comedy for my family work and I think my comedy definitely helps in my family work
