00:00 So we're getting festive here on Just Films and that we're going to be talking about our
00:04 favourite Christmas film and then a Christmas film that was a little bit of a surprise.
00:08 So my favourite Christmas film is The Muppets Christmas Carol from 1992. This is obviously
00:14 dripping with nostalgia for me. This was one that we used to watch every Christmas as a
00:18 family and I still do watch it even if I'm on my Todd because I just love it that much.
00:23 I think it's a wonderful story and the juxtaposition between what Ebenezer Scrooge is going through
00:28 and having the joy and the colour of the Muppets I just think is really magical and really
00:32 Christmassy and really wonderful to watch. I think there's an excellent message in there
00:36 as well and I really love the character development of Ebenezer Scrooge and I think Michael Caine
00:40 was just phenomenal casting for this role.
00:43 Humbug!
00:44 There goes Mr Humbug, there goes Mr Grim
00:50 Josh what's your favourite Christmas film?
00:52 Yeah, to be honest mine's probably The Muppets Christmas Carol as well but you've
00:57 nicked that one so I've been trying to think. There's two I watch every year. One is The
01:00 Muppets Christmas Carol and the other is Home Alone. So the reason I'm saying that is because
01:05 it's the first Christmas film I remember actually leaving a lasting memory on me. I remember
01:10 watching sort of the last half an hour all the slapstick bit and laughing so much that
01:14 my sides hurt and then I remember asking my mum to rewind just that bit from when they
01:18 break into the house to you know get basically battered by Macaulay Culkin. I can't watch,
01:24 I don't know about what you're like but I can't watch Christmas stuff if it's not Christmassy.
01:27 So I remember looking forward to Christmas obviously for loads of reasons but one of
01:31 them being that I would be allowed to watch the Home Alone films again. What about an
01:34 underrated or underseen Christmas film then? What about one you think deserves more love?
01:39 So one that I want to talk about that I thought was a bit of a surprise was Falling for Christmas
01:42 from 2022. This stars Lindsay Lohan and is on Netflix. It's a romantic comedy and you've
01:49 got Lohan who plays a spoiled heiress and she gets amnesia in a skiing accident and
01:54 then gets taken into the care of a lodge owner. It is exactly what you think it's going to
01:59 be. My expectations for this going in were so low I thought it was going to be just too
02:03 cheesy, too over the top, just not much to it whatsoever and it was all those things
02:08 but it was a lot of fun as well. I just found that I had a smile on my face all the way
02:12 through. What about you Josh? It's difficult isn't it because for every one good Christmas
02:17 film there's ten bad Christmas films isn't there? The one I'm going to go for is, I'm
02:21 picking it because I think it's underseen, it's a bit of a family favourite in our house,
02:25 it's called Flint Street Nativity. Now I don't know many people who've even heard of this,
02:29 it's basically set in a primary school around the time of the mall doing the Christmas nativity
02:34 but all the kids are played by adults but I think it's well worth your time. I think
02:39 it's really funny, it's really sweet. If you've ever been to a nativity or been in a nativity
02:43 you'll know exactly what I mean when you watch it. It's really funny, it's well worth your
02:46 time but I think it's underseen because it's not, you know, I don't know many people who've
02:50 seen it and it's pretty hard to get hold of but I think it's worth a watch. So if you
02:54 can definitely give one of those films a watch over the festive season but whatever you're
02:58 up to and whatever you're watching, happy holidays and Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas.
