Previewing Detroit Lions Week 15 NFL contest against Denver Broncos at Ford Field.
Transcript
00:00 John, simply who do you got in Hawaii in week 15 at Ford Field, the Lions or the Broncos?
00:05 Yeah, Vito, real interesting contest. The Lions coming off of a very poor performance against
00:11 the Bears. Great decision by the NFL to flex this game. Two coaches that know each other very well
00:18 in Dan Campbell and Sean Payton. Dan Campbell having served under Payton for many years with
00:23 the Saints. I think the national televised audience is going to get a real understanding
00:28 of two uber aggressive coaches. I'm very curious to see how many puns are going to be in this
00:34 contest. I think Dan Campbell needs to be more judicious in his decision making on fourth down.
00:40 You saw against the Bears a critical fourth down that didn't go the Lions way. At times, Vito,
00:45 if the Lions don't execute when Dan Campbell is aggressive, it's put the defense in precarious
00:50 situations and you recognize the Lions defense is still trying to find answers at a lot of
00:57 different spots, namely the defensive line and in the secondary. It'll be interesting to see
01:02 how the new look of Jerry Jacobs and being in a rotation will affect the defense. It's
01:09 interesting because teams are starting to pick on Jerry Jacobs a little bit more. The secondary
01:14 hasn't played at the highest level as of late. So it'll be interesting to see how Russell Wilson
01:20 attacks the Lions defense. You realize Korten Sutton has an opportunity now to make plays.
01:27 You recognize too that Russell Wilson has been turnover prone early this year. He can potentially
01:33 be rattled and throw the football to the Lions secondary. They're going to want to obviously
01:39 rebound, make plays, force turnovers. And I think for the Lions, you recognize when you see
01:44 the statistics from the year, you see a Broncos defense that hasn't been strong,
01:49 hasn't been as stout against the run. So I suspect that David Montgomery and Jameer Gibbs
01:54 this week will have an opportunity to shine. But Vito, I think it's a bounce back game for a lot of
01:59 players on the Lions offense. I think the key this week is the Lions offense. Jared Goff, Aman Ra,
02:05 St. Brom, Jamison Williams, hopefully getting more targets, more involved, showcasing that speed.
02:12 I think the Lions possess far too many offensive weapons for the Broncos to handle. And similarly
02:18 now over the course of the next month, Vito, I think that if the Lions play to their capabilities,
02:24 if they limit the turnovers, they gain some turnovers, like Dan Campbell had said,
02:28 that this football team cannot play sloppy and still win games. But at home, in the comfy confines
02:34 of Ford Field with controlled temperatures, I think the Lions rebound and they play a very
02:40 solid game in front of the passionate home fans that are going to want to see the Lions win their
02:44 10th game. I know that the play of late hasn't been great for the Lions, but I think all year
02:50 long they've rebounded quite nicely after poor performances. And when they see the film in
02:55 regards to what they accomplished against the Bears, all the mistakes, all the penalties,
02:59 the lack of execution, I think Dan Campbell's motivation to beat his mentor will definitely
03:06 propel the Lions to a victory this week, their 10th of the season. Dan, thanks for all the insight.
