Browning the Saviour

A debate on the merits of a Cincinnati Bengals team led by Jake Browning.
Transcript
00:00 The Bengals may be back.
00:01 Look, it felt like their season was definitely over
00:03 when Joe Burrow went down,
00:05 but Jake Browning's not just doing a serviceable job.
00:08 He's playing really well.
00:10 And when you look at the AFC right now,
00:12 there aren't a bunch of juggernauts out there.
00:14 So I'm not so sure that you can't say
00:16 the Bengals at least have the possibility of being a threat.
00:20 - I can say it.
00:22 They do not have the possibility of being a threat.
00:24 They probably won't even get the chance to be a threat,
00:27 especially in the postseason.
00:29 They're 0-4 in the division,
00:31 and they still have to play the Steelers and the Browns
00:33 one more time before the season's out.
00:35 If any of those teams end up tied at the end of the year,
00:37 they're gonna lose out naturally
00:38 'cause they have a bad division record.
00:41 I'm not getting sold on a guy
00:43 who just jumped into the games being successful.
00:46 Everybody knows once people get filmed,
00:48 when you get comfortable to see what you like,
00:50 what you don't like, teams adjust.
00:52 But again, it may not even matter.
00:54 They are terrible in their own division.
00:57 They're not gonna get any playoffs.
00:59 - They've dug themselves a hole, there's no question.
01:01 And I'm not saying they're going to the Super Bowl
01:03 or anything because the odds are stacked against them.
01:06 But I wouldn't discount what Browning's doing completely
01:09 simply because we've seen quarterbacking
01:10 not be an exact science, especially in recent times.
01:14 We just had this sort of discussion about Tommy DeVito.
01:16 Obviously, we know what Brock Purdy has done,
01:19 and he looks to be very for real.
01:21 And Browning is in a favorable situation
01:23 considering the help at wideouts he has
01:26 with Cincinnati up and down the lineup,
01:29 starting with Jamar Chase.
01:30 - He definitely has weapons,
01:33 but at the same time, it's just like,
01:35 if they're saying, "Hey, look,
01:36 "we just need you to go into this game and not lose it,"
01:39 that's great until you're playing
01:41 against divisional opponents
01:42 where you may go have to win a game.
01:44 And he hasn't done enough for me to say,
01:48 I trust him in that situation.
01:50 And for me, yeah, they're done.
01:52 - But he's not just, quote unquote,
01:55 managing the game in a sense.
01:56 He's throwing for like 300 yards in these games.
