00:00 "Israeli bombs have rained down on southern Gaza, killing at least 45 Palestinians, as
00:07 the country continued its mission to destroy Hamas militants. The rising civilian death
00:16 toll in the besieged enclave is driving diplomatic efforts at the UN to agree on a resolution
00:22 that Israel's chief ally, the United States, will not veto. However, a vote on stopping
00:28 the hostilities has been postponed for a second day. In the meantime, a UN diplomat urged
00:34 the Security Council to work in good faith and to end the "cycle of violence".
00:54 The lack of progress is increasing frustration among humanitarian aid organizations. One
01:00 agency claimed the amount of supplies being allowed in is inadequate.
01:05 According to Palestinian authorities, the death toll since the start of the war has
01:09 risen to more than 19,000. It began after Hamas and other militants killed some 1,200
01:16 people in Israel and took over 200 hostage. Freeing those being held is a priority for
01:23 Israel. At a recently installed memorial, those killed by Hamas at the Supernova music
01:29 festival on the 7th of October are remembered. Over 3,000 people attended the event, just
01:36 beyond the Gaza border in southern Israel. According to police, 364 people were killed
01:43 there.
