00:00 Welcome in Tacita, we will participate with our electric motorcycle to the Dakar Mission 1000.
00:07 Come and discover!
00:09 [Music]
00:31 Riding electric is amazing, the riding pleasure is the top.
00:35 So what is important is that when you finish to ride our bike, you have to smile.
00:40 [Laughter]
00:42 My name is Pierpaolo Rigo and I am the co-founder of Tacita.
00:47 We decided to create a team and to create our own technology.
00:52 We produce the controller, we produce the electric motor, the BMS too.
00:57 And we produce also all the aluminium and parts of the gearbox.
01:04 And in this way we don't depend from anyone.
01:07 So, now we are in our showroom.
01:11 This is the first Tacita we ever made and we were the first electric motorcycle ever to race officially in Africa Rally.
01:21 The bike still has some sand from 2012.
01:27 My name is Nicolas Schex, I am French in an Italian team.
01:32 Very strange.
01:34 When David Castella called me about "Are you ready to be part of this event?"
01:40 We were, Pierpaolo and me, very excited and very proud to be chosen and to be part of this event.
01:47 Because it's not a race, it's a laboratory.
01:50 When you do some private test, you are not in the hurry of the race, you have more time.
01:56 So basically, every day we will change the setup of the bike in order to test different technologies.
02:03 For now, it's very easy with electric power to have a lot of power.
02:10 What is difficult is to have the range.
02:13 We need to carry a lot of batteries, so we need to find the good balance between the range and the fact that the bike is too heavy to carry.
02:24 The goal is to ride the 100 last kilometers of each stage, each day.
02:30 So we are going to change landscapes, we are going to swap from sand to rocks.
02:37 It's going to be very nice.
02:39 And also to be part of this craziness, which is the Dakar Biwak.
02:44 It's very good to perform and to grow up.
02:47 Obviously, it's a path.
02:50 And this is amazing because there is a new discovery every time.
02:54 There are a lot of things to do.
02:57 And it's a technical challenge and I love it.
03:02 Here at the R&D department, there are about five to six engineers and mechanics working here.
03:08 And it will be quite the same in Saudi Arabia, because we need the mechanic, we need the electrician,
03:15 we need the guy in charge of logistics and computers.
03:20 There are many aspects we don't have in the thermals world.
03:24 And as it's all new and as we are going to test many different setups, we need everybody to be there.
03:31 Nothing is perfect, but step by step we are increasing our technology
03:37 and we are going to test different technologies in order to make our system more green and more reliable.
03:46 The path we expect to follow with Tachita is to be 100% green in maybe three, four, five years.
03:55 So this is very interesting.
03:57 And personally, I find the energy to manage this because it's the future we need to leave for our children.
04:04 And I have a lot of children.
04:06 [Laughter]
