00:00 Crowds are building here at the Sydney Fish Markets as it kicks off its annual 36 hour
00:08 seafood shopping blitz.
00:09 Now that kicked off at 5am this morning and it runs through the night right through to
00:13 5pm tomorrow.
00:15 Now last year they saw about 130,000 people come through the fish markets for that blitz.
00:21 This year they're expecting because it falls on a weekend that it's going to be even more
00:25 than that, up to 150,000 people.
00:28 And for fishmongers like those behind me that means 350,000 tonnes of seafood expected to
00:35 being sold this year.
00:37 Now that's all types of fish, over 100 species of seafood, fish, prawns, other types of seafood
00:44 right through to oysters which is a personal favourite of mine.
00:47 And ladies and gentlemen, in the interests of rigorous reporting I'm going to have to
00:51 taste one of these just to tell you fully what the full experience is like.
00:55 My friend John here, he's been shucking these for more than 20 years.
00:58 Oh beautiful, look at that.
01:00 This is a Sydney Rock Oyster.
01:03 Now I'll have to tell you just fully what it's really like to be here.
01:11 That's amazing, thank you John.
01:13 Ladies and gentlemen, they're expecting massive crowds down here at the Sydney Fish Markets
01:17 so if you are planning to come down and get your seafood shopping done you're being encouraged
01:22 to plan ahead, allow for extra time and even consider using public transport as you get
