Holidaymakers are being reminded to take care on the road today, with more severe weather forecast across the state. The State Emergency Service has carried out six flood rescues over the past 24 hours and more than a thousand volunteers have responded to 471 calls for help across the state.

00:06 the north east and northern rivers area of the state and also the Illawarra and the south
00:10 coast again, along with metropolitan Sydney as well.
00:14 And what you do find is that areas that are prone to flash flooding you'll see lots of
00:17 water just move across the road quickly.
00:20 So we do ask people when they're out and about to avoid driving through flood water.
00:25 Do not drive, walk or play in it if you are caught out in a severe storm.
00:31 Just to wait for the storm to pass if you can.
00:33 Pull over where it's safe to do so.
00:35 Preferably don't park under trees because you do find that with these severe thunderstorms
00:41 you do see strong winds and there is a risk of branches or trees being blown over.
