Pope Francis calls for end to Gaza conflict, Russia-Ukraine war
Transcript
00:00 In his Christmas, Irby at Irby message, the leader of the Catholic faith, like more than
00:04 150 nations in the United Nations plenary did earlier, called for an immediate ceasefire
00:10 to put an end to the mass slaughter of innocent Palestinians in Gaza City, most of whom have
00:16 been children and women, and has reached a total of over 20,000.
00:21 Nearly three months into the war between Israel and Hamas fighters, the humanitarian condition
00:27 in Gaza City has sunk into catastrophic levels, and Israel is hell-bent to keep the war ongoing
00:34 until Hamas surrenders and releases the hostages taken in the October 7 surprise attack inside
00:40 Israel.
00:41 And as if the sustained bombardment and ground incursions in Gaza were not enough, Israel
00:46 has been shrewdly using hunger and starvation against the Palestinians as a weapon of war,
00:52 only allowing a trickle of aid into the condemned city where hundreds of thousands are either
00:58 homeless, hungry, nursing in ailment, and/or injured.
01:02 The pontiff also pleaded for an end to the war in Ukraine and in conflicts in Syria,
01:07 Lebanon and Yemen.
