00:01 This is the dream of many Filipinos every Christmas,
00:05 to have snow in the Philippines!
00:08 White Christmas!
00:12 This fantasy was fulfilled by Nika in her cake collection.
00:18 Cake was always just for birthdays.
00:23 Now, it's for all occasions, especially Christmas.
00:29 It has to be sweet!
00:31 She has a snow globe cake,
00:35 where Santa Claus is present.
00:38 There's a snow globe, and for the snow effect,
00:41 she's sprinkling confectioner's sugar.
00:44 I thought of this because almost all Filipinos
00:49 dream of having a white Christmas.
00:51 They can see the cake, they can taste the snow,
00:54 even if it's just on their table.
00:57 You can also be ho-ho-ho with her strawberry Santa cake.
01:02 It has Christmas trees, red ribbons,
01:05 and strawberry puree in the middle.
01:08 Merry, merry Christmas when you see her Christmas garland cake.
01:14 She also has a Christmas treats cake.
01:16 Aside from the Christmas trees,
01:18 she also has a decoration of a candy cane and snowman.
01:21 And for a complete Christmas,
01:24 she has a Christmas cube cake.
01:28 For the snow globe cake,
01:32 she mixed the dry and wet ingredients first.
01:37 She put it in a baking pan.
01:43 Now, we're going to bake the chocolate cake for 40 minutes.
01:52 Next, she made the icing.
01:55 Aside from the snow globe,
02:01 her cake toppers like Santa Claus, snowman, and Christmas trees
02:07 can all be eaten.
02:09 It's delicious and crispy.
02:13 It's not greasy.
02:14 Nika finished construction engineering management.
02:18 It's really far because what I mix here is flour,
02:22 and in construction, it's really cement.
02:24 But her hobby is baking.
02:27 We have categories for every holiday,
02:30 so we release different designs.
02:33 Her business has only been going for more than a year, but...
02:36 My business suddenly grew.
02:38 Because I was the only one who made the money.
02:42 I'm so proud because I was able to help my parents.
02:47 Here in Mandaue City, Cebu,
02:50 durian is being cooked.
02:53 Courtesy of Catherine,
02:55 the famous Durian Queen in Queen City of the South.
03:00 I'm laughing because they call me Durian Queen here in Cebu.
03:03 I don't eat durian.
03:05 Catherine is the brain behind the famous durianica,
03:09 or the cake that has the skin of durian.
03:13 The top is yellow like the flesh and seeds of durian.
03:19 But these are just icing.
03:21 She mixed the cake mixture with durian meat,
03:25 fresh from Davao.
03:26 So you can really taste the durian in every bite.
03:29 I really put a lot of durian fruit,
03:35 including the color, the seeds, and the icing.
03:39 We don't use sugar anymore in our icing
03:41 because durian is already sweet.
03:43 (upbeat music)
03:45 The sweetness comes from the seeds.
03:48 It smells so good.
03:50 You can really taste the durian.
03:52 My husband really loves eating durian.
03:54 I thought, "Why don't you make some durian meat?"
03:58 I planned to make a cake.
03:59 I just wanted to make one for him.
04:01 We were lucky to have a visitor.
04:03 They took a picture and they took a video
04:05 and they posted on Facebook.
04:07 The pictures about the durian cake went viral.
