00:00 So what's so special about a building that's been sitting here for 30 years collecting dust?
00:05 Well, you just gotta look up.
00:08 Montreal is one of the oldest cities in Canada, and it's got the buildings to prove it.
00:22 Now, some of them are just old, but others have been abandoned for ages,
00:26 hiding their own mysteries, if you know where to look.
00:30 And one abandoned building in particular is home to just about the most unexpected thing you'll ever see in Montreal.
00:57 Walking down the Le Chine Canal in the summer is great.
01:00 Lots of space for a picnic and long bike lanes by the water.
01:03 The Le Chine Canal has tons of very interesting views,
01:07 but none have been more captivating than this abandoned building right here.
01:12 This silo was built in 1905, and the reason it was built was to store barley for beer.
01:19 But almost 100 years later, it was abandoned.
01:22 And ever since then, it's just been sitting here, collecting dust in St. Henry,
01:26 as a wallpaper, a backdrop to the people just biking through the canal.
01:30 Its age definitely shows. I mean, the architecture is crumbling, there's graffiti all over the place,
01:37 there's pieces of metal hanging on the sides.
01:39 But the good thing is, we don't need to go inside. What we're looking for is somewhere else.
01:44 So what's so special about a building that's been sitting here for 30 years collecting dust?
01:50 Well, you just gotta look up.
01:55 Someone got the idea to climb to the top of this thing. They got creative.
02:00 Now, it's hard to get the best view from down here, mainly because the sun is so bright,
02:04 so what we're gonna have to do is get up close and personal.
02:07 Now, it doesn't take a genius to see that this place is not up to any recent safety codes, so no.
02:13 I'm not gonna be climbing this place now or ever.
02:15 And I can't believe I have to say this, but please, don't go climbing 100-year-old abandoned buildings.
02:20 It's not a good idea.
02:22 We've got a drone to do the dirty work, so let's set it up and send it off.
02:26 Let's go up. Higher, higher. There it is.
02:31 A bright pink house fully decked out with green curtains, flower pots, there's even a red shed next door.
02:40 The reason this has captivated so many people in Montreal? No one knows whose work this is.
02:47 Like a local banksy, the flashy penthouse just sort of appeared one day.
02:52 Seriously, I must have asked over a dozen people, including people that work in the area here,
02:57 where this pink house came from, and no one seems to know a damn thing.
03:01 Absolutely wild.
03:04 Just in the time that I was standing here filming this video, four people came up to me asking me if I knew what the pink house was.
03:12 And unfortunately, despite my best efforts, hours of research, I haven't found a shred of information at all.
03:19 And in December, people reported seeing a Christmas tree up there too.
03:24 Whether it's the latest piece by a local artist or just some bored adrenaline junkie, one thing's for sure,
03:31 it's unlike anything else in Montreal.
03:34 The next time you're on the Lachine Canal in St. Henry, keep an eye out for this unique pink house.
03:40 There are tons of hidden places like this pink house spread across Montreal.
03:44 All you have to do is remember to look up every once in a while.
03:47 Alright, that's it for this week, but I will see you next time with another hidden place in Montreal that you're going to want to know about.
03:53 See you then.
