00:00 So for us to finish where we did, of course we want to finish and
00:03 have a better outcome, but where we got to is really great, you know what I mean?
00:07 So I'm very proud of this team.
00:08 >> Last time I was here in the stadium with Coach Saban,
00:10 they won the national championship.
00:12 He instantly said, seniors, thank you, and then he turned to next year.
00:15 What was the locker room like in there moments ago?
00:19 >> Pretty much what I just said, just easy to say that this year was disappointing.
00:23 But when you look back at how much we've grown, we should be very proud of ourselves.
00:26 But at the end of the day, we have to learn from this and
00:28 we have to learn how to finish better.
00:29 Especially when the competition gets a lot better.
00:32 That was number one defense in the nation, for sure.
00:34 >> What struggles, not struggles, but what challenges did their defense
00:39 pose to you guys?
00:40 Obviously, they were incredible in this game.
00:42 >> They had a lot of movements and a lot of stunts.
00:44 And overall, they executed it, you know what I mean?
00:48 They had a good tough-hard scheme and they just came out on top tonight.
00:52 You know what I mean?
00:53 We made plays, they made plays, but
00:55 ended up making one or two more plays than we did.
00:58 >> You know, Terryon and Jalen and the whole team has embodied this
01:00 Lank motto, let all naysayers know.
01:02 And I think you guys did that, even by getting to this game.
01:05 >> For sure.
01:05 >> Even though you guys didn't come out on the winning end,
01:07 what does tonight's performance prove to the country about Alabama football?
01:10 >> Yeah, that while we didn't have the outcome that we didn't wanna have,
01:15 we're still trying our best to embody the standard, you know what I mean?
01:18 I said, I talked a lot about the standard after the Georgia game and
01:22 kinda got away from it today.
01:23 So we just gotta make sure we get back to it and
01:25 keep that throughout the whole time.
01:26 But that was a great team out there, a better team winning.
01:30 >> Being a leader, how do you get your boys back to that standard mentality?
01:33 I know today was tough.
01:35 >> Using this year as an example, you know what I mean?
01:37 How much we've grown from one, but two, learning from today.
01:40 Remembering this feeling and letting it drive you from here on out.
01:44 >> You guys are a pretty young team.
01:45 I mean, you look at all the sophomores coming back.
01:47 I mean, what's your message to some of these guys coming back,
01:50 you know, this team isn't going anywhere.
01:52 >> Yeah, just remember this feeling.
01:53 A lot of guys coming back, of course we have a key loss, but
01:58 I really believe these guys in my position are gonna step up and
02:01 really help us win this year.
02:02 >> What did you think of Justice Haynes?
02:03 You guys have seen him obviously, you knew he was gonna be nice.
02:05 >> Yeah. >> He looked really good out there.
02:07 >> I mean, Justice has been doing this since the Sugar Bowl practices last year.
02:10 I remember looking back when he was on the scout team, hearing ooh, ah,
02:14 just because he was tearing up the defense, you know what I mean?
02:16 So everything that Justice does is expected and
02:18 we're very excited to see him perform next year.
02:21 >> Michigan found a lot of success pressuring the quarterback.
02:24 What did you see from your perspective as an offensive lineman,
02:27 what went wrong in that area?
02:29 >> They did a lot to challenge our rules, you know what I mean?
02:31 They had a good tell for our scheme, what we're doing.
02:33 When we were in six man protection, when we were in five man protection, and
02:36 that changes our point, that changes where you have to go if the running back is in
02:38 or not, so them just having a good tell on what we were doing.
02:42 That's what, because they were able to make us follow our rules, but
02:48 then they, I'm sorry, then they had rule breakers in there as well.
02:52 But that's just a great football team, you know what I mean?
02:54 They're the number one defense in the nation for a reason.
02:57 >> What did you see on that last play in overtime?
02:59 What was the play call, what was supposed to be drawn up there?
03:03 >> So the play call was a one back power, you know what I mean?
03:06 So from our perspective, I just had a double team to the back side linebacker,
03:09 and whatever happened behind me is what happened behind me, you know what I mean?
03:13 >> What was the biggest adjustment that you got to make protection wise or
03:17 blocking wise in the second half,
03:19 because it seemed like Javon was not doing as well as he was going to.
03:22 What's that been about?
03:24 >> Just being aware of what pressure we were seeing in five and
03:27 six man protection, changing up the protection,
03:29 not just being in five man protection the whole time.
03:31 Really just switching it up so they can't get a tell on it.
03:35 >> Were you more in six man protection in the second half?
03:37 >> Yes.
03:38 >> I think we have fans expecting a certain amount of availability from Alabama.
03:42 We get these games a lot of times every year and y'all end up winning these games.
03:45 Do you, some of y'all feel relieved knowing that there's a fan almost,
03:49 a fan of y'all, but I seem to upset by this loss.
03:52 How does, do you feel like you guys are getting a little closer?
03:55 >> Of course, I mean, I don't know what you mean why you don't seem upset by the loss.
03:59 I mean, of course it's a loss, but while we lost,
04:01 there's a lot to look forward to next year and a lot to be proud of for this year.
04:05 Like, of course, we're expecting to win every year, but this is football,
04:08 you know what I mean?
04:09 College football is different now.
04:10 Everybody's different, you know what I mean?
04:12 So it's just we gotta do a lot better job finishing.
04:15 But overall, I'm so proud of this team.
04:17 I think everybody who contributed.
04:18 Shout out to the seniors and all the guys who are going off to the draft next year.
04:21 I love y'all.
04:22 Really super impossible without you.
04:23 >> Thank you, appreciate it.
04:25 >> Thank you, y'all have a good night.
04:26 Y'all get home safe.
04:27 >> Thanks, Tyler.
