Tolu Smith has returned right in time for SEC play as the Bulldogs look to impress against stiff competition.
Transcript
00:00 SEC play is right around the corner for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, but luckily their star center has returned in Toluse Smith in the previous game against Bethlehem Cookman.
00:07 He got to see a little bit of a preview of him in 19 minutes of play, scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
00:12 And he was an instant force as soon as he checked in.
00:15 Now, looking ahead in the SEC, there's going to be plenty of games where we're going to need him, but we're also going to need the other people on our team to score as well.
00:24 With Toluse returning, there's two major things that stick out to me on the offensive and defensive end.
00:30 Offensively, he gets double teamed very quickly and he likes to go to the free throw line to score many, if not majority of his points.
00:37 If that's the case, the extra emphasis on the three point ball that has been placed by Head Cross Chris Johns this year is going to add to the offense.
00:44 With a quick double team, he'll catch it, look, examine the field, pass out quick.
00:48 Three from Josh Herbert, Andrew Taylor, DJ Jeffries, etc.
00:51 And on the defensive end, he's a great rebounder. And with Jimmy Bell Jr. playing very well this season as a replacement for him in the early part of the season,
00:59 both of them on the quarter either or will suffice for what we need defensively.
