Fatal Stonehaven crash leaves five passengers hospitalised, one dead

A child has died and five people are in hospital after a head-on collision near Geelong south-west of Melbourne.

00:00 One child is dead and five other people have been injured in a horrifying road incident
00:06 which took place in Stonehaven, 20 minutes west of Geelong at about 9 o'clock last night.
00:12 Two cars collided head on on the Hamilton Highway resulting in the death of one child
00:18 and a second little girl has been fighting for her life in hospital overnight.
00:22 Initially she was taken to the Geelong Hospital but since she's been moved to the Royal Children's
00:26 Hospital in Melbourne and we've heard from the hospital this morning that she is in a
00:31 stable condition.
00:32 It sounds like those children might have been travelling with their family as two adults
00:37 from that vehicle have also sustained serious injuries.
00:41 And two men were in the vehicle travelling the other direction on the highway.
00:45 One of those men has been hospitalised with life threatening injuries.
00:48 He was also taken to the Geelong Hospital last night before being transferred to the
00:53 Alfred Hospital today.
00:55 The second man in that vehicle also sustained minor injuries.
00:58 Police are investigating the crash today and are asking anyone in the public who might
01:02 have dash cam footage or more information to please come forward.
