00:00 Hello again. Whilst there is some drier, albeit colder, weather to come as we go through this weekend,
00:06 for the time being there's still some heavy rain around.
00:09 An area of low pressure pushed its way up from the south through today,
00:12 bringing some significant rain to southern parts.
00:14 That low will clear away towards the east through Friday.
00:17 Into the weekend, a low towards the north of the UK, bringing something a bit blustery and showery here.
00:23 But then through into Sunday, high pressure becoming more dominant,
00:27 that is going to quieten our weather down quite significantly.
00:30 A lot of dry and at times sunny weather, but temperatures dropping too as we go into the beginning of next week.
00:36 I'll have more on that shortly.
00:38 Looking at the here and now and the heavy rain that pushed into the south through today,
00:42 continuing to feed a little bit further north-eastwards could cause some problems
00:46 for parts of East Anglia into Lincolnshire overnight,
00:49 some flooding likely and also some travel disruption too.
00:53 Otherwise, scattering of showers likely towards more western parts of the UK,
00:57 in between something drier and some clear skies possible as well.
01:01 Under the clear spells, temperatures could take a bit of a dip,
01:04 so a touch of frost possible first thing Friday morning and also some fog patches as well.
01:09 Otherwise, in the east Friday getting off to a bit of a wet start,
01:12 that rain continuing for a time across eastern England,
01:15 but it should clear away as we go through the day.
01:18 However, for parts of eastern Scotland and perhaps the far north-east of England,
01:22 some persistent rain lingering through much of the day and in fact across parts of Shetland,
01:26 we could see some winterness, so some sleet, possibly even a bit of snow over the highest ground.
01:31 Western parts of Wales likely to have some showers,
01:34 some of these feeding further inland through the day and also western fringes of England
01:38 and coastal parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland are scattering of showers quite possible,
01:43 but further inland it looks like it will turn drier and also sunnier for a time during the afternoon on Friday.
01:49 Temperatures near normal for the time of year,
01:52 most places staying in single figures may just about scrape into double figures towards the south and southwest.
01:58 As we go through Friday evening, still a few showers for a time,
02:02 but a lot of them are going to die out and ease and clear away,
02:05 particularly for central and western parts, inland areas in particular,
02:09 turning largely dry with some clear skies.
02:11 A bit cloudier towards the east, a few more outbreaks of showery rain continuing overnight here
02:16 and coastal showers continuing towards the west and the northwest as well.
02:20 Where we have the cloud cover towards the east, temperatures won't drop particularly low,
02:25 though still a little chilly, falling into mid to low single figures.
02:29 Further west onto the clear skies, a chillier night, so a bit more frost to come
02:33 and a greater chance of seeing some fog as we wake up on Saturday morning.
02:37 Through Saturday itself though, and a bit of a west-east split across eastern parts,
02:43 we get a cloudy picture and there will be a few outbreaks of showery rain quite likely here.
02:48 Further west, drier and sunnier.
02:51 Still some coastal showers likely, particularly towards the west and the northwest.
02:55 Watch out for some blustery winds towards the far north.
02:58 But yes, a real west-east split in our weather on Saturday,
03:01 especially when it comes to sunshine amounts.
03:04 Temperatures though may be down a little bit compared to Friday,
03:07 so looks pretty much likely that everywhere will stay in single figures,
03:11 highs ranging from around 4 to 9 Celsius.
03:14 As we go into the rest of the weekend through Sunday and into the beginning of next week,
03:20 it does look like high pressure is really going to become more dominant.
03:23 So it is going to be largely dry for most of us, but like I said, turning colder as well.
03:28 So widespread frosts becoming more of a thing, as well as some fog and freezing fog at times.
