In the days after a major snowstorm in the Northeast, a second storm could be even more impactful for much of the central U.S.

00:00 Beyond the storm rolling across the country now and the rain plus the snow,
00:05 we're also looking ahead to another cross country storm system this weekend
00:08 and Christina shell who has the long range forecast with Accuweather long
00:12 range expert Joe Lundberg breaking it down.
00:15 Joe, we've been digging into the storm for next week for quite a few days and
00:21 dynamic is just one word I use to describe it. It's going to be a big
00:25 storm as big as the one is this weekend that brings the snow to part to the
00:28 mid atlantic and northeast. This one's going to be bigger and more impactful
00:31 for a lot of places. Here's the setup. An area of low pressure will come into
00:35 texas early next week and then track to the northeast and it will deepen as it
00:39 does. So this is gonna be a big storm on the northwest side of it. Enough cold
00:43 air for snow and strong winds, maybe some blowing snow and traveled problems
00:46 south and east of it. You're gonna deal with rain a lot of it all the way to
00:50 the eastern seaboard and a threat of severe weather. In fact, if you look at
00:53 the rainfall projections from some of the computer forecast, I mean just look
00:57 at this. We're seeing across the mid atlantic and northeast some places two
01:00 or three inches of rain. And when you combine that with all the rain that
01:03 we've seen in recent storm events this weekend storm with snow and rain, there
01:07 could be some flooding issues along the mid atlantic in the northeast. And
01:10 that's just the first concern here, flooding issues to the north and then
01:13 we had to the south joe and severe weather is the name of the game. Yeah,
01:16 I mean this is almost a little too close for comfort considering what
01:20 happened a year ago in early january with a severe weather outbreak across
01:23 the south. But as you can see, it's a threat for monday and monday night
01:27 downpours, isolated tornadoes, damaging wind gusts and it's not just monday
01:31 and monday night. This carries over to the southeast coast on Tuesday with the
01:33 same threat persisting perhaps all the way up into Virginia. And oh by the way,
01:37 flooding downpours associated with the system. And finally joe, look at the
01:41 snow, my friend, this is going to be a big instance for the midwest. Yeah,
01:45 it's not like we're dealing with arctic air just yet with the system. It tries
01:48 to pull some in at the last minute, but as it moves by, it deepens, it
01:51 generates a lot of wind and where it's cold Des Moines, Kansas City, Peoria,
01:55 Chicago, you're looking at snow and there could be a lot of wind and of
01:58 course travel delays associated with this storm next week.
