00:00 We taste the Galette des Rois on January 6th or the first Sunday of January,
00:04 but where does this tradition come from, older than we think?
00:07 The tradition of the Galette des Rois is linked to the Epiphany,
00:11 celebrating the presentation of the baby Jesus to the King of Mages.
00:14 From the 5th century, the Church gave great importance to the celebration of this event,
00:19 which we celebrated by sharing a galette with our surroundings.
00:22 As for the fève, it probably goes back to the Romans,
00:24 who used it as a ballot to elect the king of the feast during the Saturn Festival.
00:29 The one who finds the fève, replaced around 1870 by a porcelain subject,
00:34 is elected king and will have to offer the next galette!
