Three men were killed and 18 other spectators were severely injured in an accident which happened during the second edition of the Distura Cup Drag Race. The event scheduled for two days, 23 and 24 April, organized by the Panay Auto Club (PAC) was held on a 400-meter public road dragstrip at Barangay Dacutan, neighborhood of Dumangas, Iloilo City, Panay Island, Philippines. It was part of the activities for the upcoming Dumangas town fiesta.

The three victims were Rolando Palma, Emilio Dionio and Noel Dequiño. All of them were Barangay Tanods on duty at the track. A Barangay Tanod is a local volunteer who has been deputised and received some training to carry out basic security and police functions under the auspice of the local Police Headquarters.

The accident happened early on to the first day of the race, on Saturday, 23 April 2005. While running midway to the dragstrip, for unknown reason the Toyota Starlet Model 82 driven by Philippines driver Jun Jucaban swerved to the right, then careened to the roadside ending into a crowd. Rolando Palma was killed on the spot, more than twenty people were involved in the accident, being taken to Dumangas hospital. One of them, Emilio Dionio succumbed to his injuries on Saturday afternoon. Another barangay tanod, Noel Dequiño died four days later, on Wednesday, 27 April 2005, at the Western Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo City.

The competition was immediately cancelled after the tragedy. Jun Jucaban was charged and convicted for his part in the accident.
