00:03 - Got Falcons and Saints up next.
00:06 This was an ugly one for the dirty birds here, Mark.
00:09 The Falcons, they finish at seven and 10
00:11 and they go down 48 to 17 to the New Orleans Saints.
00:16 New Orleans went off as the minus three point home favorite
00:20 42 and a half.
00:21 The Saints eclipsed that themselves.
00:23 So the game goes over, Saints win and cover.
00:26 What'd you take away here with the Falcons and Saints
00:29 from the big easy?
00:30 - Okay, let's just break this game down
00:33 'cause it was a 17-17 game at halftime.
00:35 And then what happened on the first drive
00:40 of the second half, Drew?
00:41 Desmond Ritter does what Desmond Ritter does
00:43 and that means he throws an interception.
00:45 Saints, Falcons go three and out,
00:47 Saints score again, the game was over.
00:50 That was when the game ended.
00:51 The rest of it was window dressing.
00:52 The bottom line here is, and it looks like unfortunately,
00:56 Arthur Smith is gonna lose his job,
00:58 although I've been the one person campaigning
01:00 that he shouldn't lose his job
01:02 'cause I don't think he should.
01:03 Again, I think you can have a philosophical discussion
01:07 about the state of the franchise
01:09 and the quarterback that you chose
01:10 and whether they got that right or got it wrong.
01:11 And I think those things are fair,
01:13 but I would tell you again that, you know,
01:16 when you've had bad quarterback play,
01:19 you're gonna struggle to win games.
01:21 - Well, Mark, let me ask you this
01:24 because guys, we get the Bucs and the Panthers,
01:26 we'll hit that on the other side,
01:28 but we got a little time here, Mark.
01:29 I mean, you're close to the organization.
01:32 You've followed them for quite a while.
01:34 You're there in the Atlanta area.
01:36 I mean, are the Falcons, NFL draft-wise,
01:40 in the market for a quarterback?
01:41 I mean, if Michael Penix does drop,
01:43 what are your overall thoughts on it?
01:46 - I mean, it depends on who the coach is, right?
01:49 If you're Arthur Smith,
01:50 I don't know where you can draft a quarterback per se
01:52 because you're gonna go through some growing pains
01:54 with a rookie quarterback for the most part.
01:56 So you may have to look in the direction
01:58 of a veteran quarterback out there,
02:00 whether it's Kirk Cousins or Russell Wilson,
02:02 wherever it may be.
02:04 But if a new coach comes in here,
02:05 I'm sure they're gonna end up drafting one.
