Paris names street after David Bowie
Paris inaugurates its first street dedicated to music icon David Bowie, eight years after his death. Named 'Rue David Bowie,' the street is located in the city's 13th district on the left bank. The idea originated from Mayor Jerome Coumet, a Bowie fan, who proposed it in early 2020 and received approval later that year.

00:00 1, 2, 3!
00:02 Rue David Bowie, wow, incredible.
00:20 I'm very honoured to be here today and to witness the love and respect you're showing for him.
00:28 Viva David, mon ami.
00:43 As a Parisian, I'm happy to know that there will be a place for him, knowing that David Bowie doesn't have a grave, we don't know where he's buried. It could be a place of reception, to listen to David Bowie and maybe meet people who love David Bowie.
01:09 This is a new district of the 13th, very artistic, with a lot of cultural places. There's the Agnès B. Foundation, a lot of galleries, musical venues on the side of the stage, the National Library of France, big newspapers like the Group de Monde next to us.
01:26 So it seemed logical, normal, to send a signal to certain artists who inspired many other composers.
01:35 It's their life.
