00:00 "Chef, can I bring it to the table?"
00:02 "Go get 'em, Richie."
00:07 Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're looking at moments from 'The Bear's' first two seasons that brought tears of joy to our eyes.
00:14 As such, be on the lookout for spoilers ahead, chefs.
00:17 "Cousin!"
00:19 "Yo."
00:20 "Help!"
00:28 Every character in 'The Bear' is under immense amounts of stress, especially head chef Carmi and his second-in-command, Sydney.
00:35 By the time we reach the penultimate episode of Season 2, their tension is palpable.
00:40 "At this point, I'm putting so much into this, and I don't know, man, it's the same thing that you've been saying."
00:46 Though they may argue, their friendship and shared love of food keeps the ship afloat.
00:51 The dynamic between the two is lovingly summed up in a scene where they fix a table together.
00:55 "You could do this without me."
00:56 "I couldn't do it without you."
00:57 "Yeah, you could."
00:58 "I wouldn't even want to do it without you.
01:00 You know, you... you make me better at this."
01:08 Carmi admits his faults, Sydney admits her fears, and they both admit they make each other better,
01:14 and wouldn't be able to do this alone.
01:16 It's a quiet but beautiful character moment between the two,
01:19 capped off by Carmi giving Syd a chef's coat with her embroidered initials.
01:23 [Paper rustling]
01:28 Number 9. It's the Thing
01:30 Season 2 introduces several new characters, including Sydney's father, Emmanuel.
01:35 While incredibly supportive of his daughter,
01:38 he also remains cautious and unbelieving due to Sydney's past failures.
01:42 "I never want you to feel like you have to make everything the thing."
01:46 However, he comes through in the end.
01:49 In the Season 2 finale, after a successful Friends and Family night,
01:53 Emmanuel finds Syd and offers the words of encouragement she needs.
01:57 Not only that the food was incredible, but that this is the thing,
02:01 calling back to a previous conversation about Syd's desire to pursue this career.
02:05 "Absolutely incredible. Baby, it's the thing."
02:12 Considering she was in the middle of vomiting from all the stress,
02:16 we can only imagine how badly she needed to hear it.
02:19 Number 8. Passing the Fire Suppression Test
02:29 "I think that he overrode the fire suppression system,
02:32 so the gas wouldn't turn off and it wouldn't put the fire out."
02:36 Most of Season 2's plot chronicles the group's struggle to get their restaurant's building up
02:40 to code. One of their biggest hurdles is a fire suppression system test,
02:44 which they fail a couple of times prior to Season 2's eighth episode.
02:48 "We failed the fire suppression test."
02:50 "Another one, dude?"
02:51 "Yeah, yeah, another one. We have one more shot."
02:53 With the restaurant's opening night around the corner,
02:56 the final test carries a lot of weight. Every character needs this restaurant to work,
03:01 which is summed up by quick internal flashbacks. When they do pass,
03:05 viewers breathe a sigh of relief while the characters cheer and hug one another.
03:09 "Congrats, Natalie Brizotto, you have a restaurant."
03:14 It's an incredibly wholesome scene, and one of the few that features the entire
03:18 cast feeling such joy. Number 7. Pete Defends Donna
03:23 Most characters on the bear have sharp edges, with one exception being Nat's husband Pete.
03:28 His soft and positive demeanor has made him a punching bag of others,
03:32 but also led to one of the best moments in the Season 2 finale.
03:35 "I just don't want you to get your expectations too high."
03:38 "I'm not."
03:39 "Natalie."
03:41 "Peter."
03:42 With Nat expecting her troubled mother Donna to show up to Friends and Family Night,
03:46 Pete happily heads outside when he sees her. However, Donna begs him to stay quiet,
03:51 thinking she'll ruin the one good thing her children have.
03:54 "I don't deserve to see how good this is. I want to have this good thing,
04:00 and I don't want to hurt it."
04:03 Pete can't hide his emotions, but keeps his promise and tells Nat not to hold this one
04:08 against her mother. It's a moment still tinged with sadness, but Pete is able to
04:12 turn it into one of love. "I just, I love you so much."
04:17 Number 6. Tina Becomes Sous Chef
04:20 "I know how to do it." "Alright, well, it's a new recipe."
04:22 "What'd I just say?"
04:23 When Carmie first arrives at his late brother's restaurant, there are many not willing to change
04:28 their ways. Tina is one of them, constantly butting heads with Sid in the early episodes.
04:34 However, we learn that it's out of fear that she won't be good at anything new.
04:38 When Sid validates her, it signals a moment of change and the start of her growth.
04:42 "It's great, thanks chef." "What?"
04:44 "It's great, thank you chef."
04:48 Tina becomes incredibly invested to the point where Sid recognizes how good she really is.
04:53 In the season two premiere, Sid offers her the position of sous chef,
04:57 which Tina graciously accepts with a heartfelt hug.
05:00 "Tina, I'm asking you if you would be interested in learning how to be my sous."
05:07 She only needed people to believe in her, and we certainly do.
05:11 Number 5. The Chocolate-Covered Banana
05:15 There were naturally a lot of emotional moments in the season two finale,
05:20 but one of the smallest was actually one of the more impactful. With the night winding down,
05:25 Richie sends out a special dessert to Cicero, the restaurant's financier, as a way of saying thanks.
05:30 A chocolate-covered banana. The act of gratitude calls back to Fishes,
05:35 the season's flashback episode, in which Cicero told a story about missing his late father after
05:40 driving by a banana stand they'd visit when he was a kid.
05:42 "I swear to God I could smell him, you know, me and him. It's weird right?
05:47 We remember smells. Cologne, you know? Anyway, it's kind of been uh, sitting with me."
05:54 This small but kind gesture speaks volumes about how Richie has grown not only personally,
06:00 but professionally. As Cicero gets choked up, we can't help getting a little misty.
06:05 "You uh, you tell Mr. Czermomicz thank you for me."
06:09 Number 4. Carmie's Gift
06:12 Speaking of the flashback episode, Fishes is almost entirely composed of the most
06:17 stressful familial moments imaginable. However, there is one bright spot,
06:22 one touching moment between brothers that makes us swell with joy.
06:26 "I got you, I got you, uh, stupid, I got you, uh."
06:27 "What?"
06:28 "I got you so I'm gonna give it to you."
06:30 "What, you got me a present?"
06:32 "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I got you a present."
06:33 Away from the rest of the family, Carmie gives Michael a Christmas present,
06:37 a framed concept design of what their restaurant could be.
06:40 Michael, of course, gets emotional, telling Carmie how much he loves it.
06:44 And the subtly powerful performance from Jon Bernthal makes the scene even stronger.
06:49 "You're beautiful, Carmie."
06:49 "It's perfect."
06:52 Unfortunately, the rest of the episode continues and the happy tears turn into sad ones.
06:57 But we're still exceptionally glad a moment like this got to be included.
07:01 Number 3. The Michael
07:10 One of the more laid-back characters on The Bear is Marcus. The guy just wants to bake.
07:16 And he's a natural, developing a delicious dessert menu before the restaurant opens.
07:21 Carmie's one request is that the menu feature a cannoli as a therapeutic way
07:25 to reclaim them from his messed-up family.
07:27 "I kind of had this realization that maybe I could kind of take them back,
07:31 you know, make them my own, the cannolis, you know?"
07:34 Marcus shows off his creations in Season 2's penultimate episode, ending with the cannoli.
07:40 He says he put a little bit of everyone into it, calling it the Michael after his late boss.
07:45 "Everything that we all kind of know about each other, and
07:49 I wouldn't know anything if I didn't order the beef."
07:51 His love of their shared history and the stunned look on Carmie's face as he struggles with what
07:55 to say are sweeter than anything else Marcus could have come up with.
07:59 "Don't go down, huh?"
08:00 Number 2. Michael's Letter
08:02 "Family style? Two tops, boots?"
08:06 Most of the show's happy cry moments can be found in the second season,
08:10 but Season 1 still had some strong ones.
08:13 Under the assumption that his brother didn't leave a note before taking his own life,
08:17 Carmie is surprised when Richie gives him one.
08:19 "I didn't really want to give it to you, 'cause you meant that he was gone."
08:24 The note is a simple declaration of love with Michael's signature catchphrase, "Let it rip."
08:29 However, he also leaves Carmie a spaghetti recipe,
08:32 noting that the small cans of sauce work better.
08:35 From this one touching moment, the finale snowballs with glee.
08:38 From the group finding Michael's savings in those cans,
08:41 to Sid's return, to everyone enjoying a huge meal together,
08:45 it ends the season much more positively than it started,
08:48 and is a wonderful way to set up Season 2.

09:18 Number 1. Richie the Swifty
09:20 So far, Richie has had one of the best arcs on the bear.
09:24 Although aggressive and adamantly against change,
09:27 his constant self-doubt made us feel for him.
09:29 "I'm afraid one day I'm gonna wake up and you guys are all just gonna cut...
09:33 just drop this ass."
09:36 However, it wasn't until his central episode in Season 2 where he finally found his purpose.
09:43 After being sent to stage at a high-end restaurant,
09:46 Richie sees how this type of customer service can provide such an enriching experience.
09:50 "But I couldn't live with myself if I let this beautiful family leave Chicago
09:55 without sampling one of my personal favorite dishes, Pequod's Deep Dish."
10:01 "No, oh you did not."
10:03 He grows to believe in himself over the course of the episode,
10:06 as well as in what Carmi's trying to do.
10:09 By far the most joyous moment comes when Richie belts along to Taylor Swift's love story while driving.
10:15 "We all say we've been trying to tell me how to feel.
10:18 This love is difficult, but it's a real deal."
10:22 The relief and happiness he feels in this moment is infectious,
10:26 and we couldn't keep the tears from falling.
