00:00 The escape attempt of Suchana Seth, the CEO of Mindful AI Lab, took an unexpected turn
00:09 when she encountered an accident in Goa's Cholaghat.
00:13 Stuck for four hours due to the mishap, Seth's plans to flee to Bengaluru after allegedly
00:19 killing her son faced a significant delay.
00:22 Fortunately, this pause in her journey provided law enforcement the opportunity to apprehend
00:27 her before she could dispose of her son's body.
00:30 The arrest took place in Karnataka's Chitradurga on Monday night, where Seth was found with
00:34 her son's lifeless body concealed in a bag.
00:37 A court in Goa subsequently ordered her into police custody for a six-day period starting
00:41 Tuesday.
00:42 Seth was apprehended in Karnataka's Chitradurga district as she attempted to escape in a cab
00:47 with her son's lifeless body hidden in a bag.
00:50 Police sources revealed that an unexpected truck mishap at Cholaghat, situated at the
00:55 intersection of the Goa-Karnataka border, proved to be a blessing in disguise.
01:00 The cab, stranded for over four hours from 2 am to 6 am, provided a crucial window for
01:05 law enforcement to intervene and prevent Seth from continuing her journey.
01:09 The journey from Kandolim to Bengaluru takes about 11-12 hours.
01:13 Due to the overturning of a turn at the Cholaghat, the traffic movement was restricted and this
01:18 delayed her trip by over four hours.
01:20 In the meantime, the hotel staff reported that they had found bloodstains and were able
01:25 to track the taxi driver and the accused, said a police officer.
01:29 Rojan D'Souza, the cab driver from North Goa's Anjuna, who drove Seth from Hotel Saul Banyan
01:34 Grande in Kandolim to the police station in Chitradurga, was also instrumental in her
01:39 arrest.
01:40 D'Souza got an urgent call from the hotel at 11 pm on January 7 to take Seth to Bengaluru,
01:45 according to a report by Indian Express.
01:47 "My co-driver and I reached the parking area.
01:50 She said she was travelling alone and told me to put a red trolley bag in the boot.
01:53 The suitcase was unusually heavy, but I did not think much of it," he told Indian Express.
01:58 D'Souza recounted that throughout the journey, Seth remained completely silent, except for
02:03 one instance when she asked if he wanted to drink water.
02:07 Over the ensuing hours, he persisted in driving continuously until he received a call from
02:11 a Kelang-Uttar police inspector around 11 am.
02:14 "The police inspector asked me if the passenger I was ferrying was alone or if a child was
02:18 with her.
02:19 The officer was talking in Konkani and I figured that she could not understand a conversation.
02:24 I told him she was alone.
02:25 He said police had found bloodstains in hotel room and they had suspicion about her.
02:29 Then I passed the phone to speak to her.
02:31 The officer spoke to her for a couple of minutes.
02:33 She mentioned an address.
02:34 Besides that, she didn't react much and did not seem to be in any sort of panic," D'Souza
02:39 said.
02:40 Later, the police contacted D'Souza again after confirming that the information Seth
02:43 provided about her son's location was false.
02:45 They directed him to immediately drive to the nearest police station.
02:49 Here the cab driver's quick thinking came into play.
02:52 He discreetly googled the nearest police station, which showed one at a distance of 150 km.
02:58 Realising it was too far, he informed Seth that he and his co-driver needed to use a
03:01 restroom and stopped the car.
03:04 By the roadside, they found a restaurant where the watchman informed them that M. Mangala
03:08 Police Station in Karnataka's Chitradurga district was just 500 metres away.
03:13 D'Souza then called the Goa Police and kept them on standby while he drove to the police
03:17 station.
03:18 The police officers of both states then coordinated and in the next 10 minutes, the police checked
03:22 the luggage and found the body of her son.
03:24 "I didn't have time to process what was happening and just did what the police asked," she said.
03:29 She did not show any emotion while the police were conducting the check," the driver added.
03:34 The victim's father Venkatraman, who hails from Kerala and is settled in Indonesia, reached
03:38 Hiryur in Chitradurga on Tuesday night and took possession of his son's body after the
03:43 post-mortem.
03:44 The post-mortem revealed that the child was smothered to death.
