00:00 A new experience for a new Dakar, Mission 1000, a way to test new technologies in the
00:08 tough conditions of Saudi Arabia.
00:12 New technologies are ready today to do the Dakar, so we adapted the Dakar to the technologies.
00:17 We have a shorter Dakar of a thousand kilometers, but it allows them to be here and it allows
00:22 us to maybe discover the future of the Dakar.
00:26 There's no place better than races in the middle of the desert to test and show.
00:33 We never asked ourselves the question, why?
00:36 It was obvious.
00:39 All the teams present in Mission 1000 are pioneers in all types of technologies and
00:44 we are testing these technologies so that tomorrow they can be used in real life.
00:49 And this first week was a demanding one for these brand new vehicles trying to adapt to
00:54 the difficulties of the Dakar.
00:56 It's been a good experience on the first stages.
01:04 We already have assessed quite a few things concerning the bike and its battery, its range.
01:11 The feeling, I'm super happy with the bike, super happy with the power of the bike.
01:15 We have nothing to envy combustion bikes.
01:18 We shouldn't be ashamed.
01:25 An electric bike isn't handled the same way as a combustion bike, so we had many difficulties
01:33 at the beginning with the clutch, with the gearbox, with the way we use the power and
01:38 how to use it in the best possible way.
01:45 We saw positive things.
01:47 It was the first time we tested the bike in a race and we had the normal problems of a
01:51 young bike.
01:52 That concerns the bike more than the powertrain.
01:55 The electric powertrain really surprised us.
01:58 I hope that in the next ten years we'll see more bikes and bigger vehicles using our technology.
02:08 The first dunes were a little tricky.
02:19 With a hybrid vehicle, what's essential is finding the right balance between the power
02:24 coming from the electric engine and the combustion engine.
02:27 We don't really have range problems.
02:30 Between the beginning of the rally and today, we've reduced our consumption by 10% compared
02:34 to our first setting.
02:42 Every day in Dakar is a good one.
02:44 We learn a lot about the car, the limits.
02:48 Now we are looking forward with the team, with the heist, with the overdrive to the
02:52 other stages to do it better.
02:55 So we are happy to be here and to keep pushing.
03:02 It's still difficult to drive with this vehicle because it's so heavy.
03:07 So we know in future we have to change the weight of the vehicle to become better and
03:12 easier in the dunes.
03:19 Our children will no longer be using gasoline.
03:22 They will be using new technologies.
03:24 We're setting the new path to follow for the future.
03:29 And the Dakar gives us the opportunity to test perfectly our new technologies.
03:33 We will make the best of it and learn as much as we can going forward and forward and forward.
03:43 One thousand kilometres to be covered, one hundred a day and a ranking based on points
03:47 for distances covered.
03:49 And so far, new ideas are emerging.
03:58 We want to make the best of this experience, to use it at the fullest in our industry.
04:03 Everything that we are learning today gives us ideas for the future.
04:09 A lot of data is being collected for the future and many ideas are coming for the future prototypes.
04:19 The Dakar is an open-air laboratory.
04:21 Today seeing electric or hydrogen solutions, we truly hope that those will be the solutions
04:26 used in the short term.
04:27 We want a Dakar with only that.
04:30 It would be an outcome to see such a Dakar start as quickly as possible.
04:33 Thank you.
04:44 you
