00:00 I now call upon the Attorney General for the State of Sarawak, Anthony General for the State of Sarawak.
00:09 The role of the Attorney General, as the public officer or known as PP, is well established and protected under Article 145 of the Procedures.
00:21 The prosecutorial discussion of initiated and stunting criminal charges is the exercise for the lawful discussion by the PP,
00:31 after a careful scrutiny of all the evidence presented by the official bodies and also taking into consideration the requirement of a penal law and procedure.
00:41 While discharging this official obligation, PP is so far to furnish any reason whatsoever to any parties.
00:50 It is therefore pertinent at this juncture to emphasise that the point that the office of the PP must be permitted to discharge its duty well within Article 15 of the Federal Procedures and any written law without unnecessary external interference.
01:07 All stakeholders must therefore understand and respect the prerogative of the PP and must act fairly towards all parties,
01:16 without being selective towards certain matters which will result in sheer wastage of time and resources.
01:23 This is also true in matters which appear to look frivolous and trivial, as EGC still needs to respond to every matter professionally.
01:36 Despite having said that, I truly acknowledge and appreciate the role of the National Bar in our legal fidelity
01:43 and have no qualms whatsoever to work in a proactive manner with the National Bar on the many of our legal matters to further enhance and improve our legal system and jurisprudence.
