00:09 Former NBA stars as part of the Philippine team?
00:13 You heard it right, because not just one, but three of them will be teammates of the Filipino players
00:19 in the 33rd Dubai International Basketball Championship.
00:22 And they are here in the country, including NBA All-Star player Dwight Howard.
00:28 Let's change the game and get to know the strong members of Strong Group Athletics.
00:33 Former NBA champ and 8-time NBA All-Star, Dwight Howard.
00:41 Former defensive specialist for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Andre Robertson.
00:49 And naturalized player, Andre Brach.
00:57 Because of their reinforcement, the Philippine team roster of Strong Group Athletics is really strong.
01:04 For the 33rd Dubai International Basketball Championship from January 19 to 28.
01:11 They are with their student athletes.
01:17 Coach, you got a stacked lineup.
01:21 I think he's going to be a big boost for us. He definitely can still play.
01:24 He's going to be a big presence for us defensively.
01:27 Let's talk about Andre Robertson.
01:29 He's really good, man. He's so underrated.
01:32 In the NBA, you knew him as a defender, but he does so much more than that.
01:35 I think he might be our X-Factor.
01:37 Being able to come here and represent the Philippines is a great honor.
01:41 And I take pride in it.
01:44 Dwight, we're seeing you do more on the court.
01:46 Are you going to see more jumpers from you?
01:48 It's a new age, new era of basketball.
01:51 You got to be able to shoot, space the floor, and just be able to play outside and in.
01:56 What made you say yes to making your comeback for a Philippine team?
02:02 I had a long time to sit down with myself, obviously this past year.
02:05 My friends, family, my girls.
02:08 Came to a decision, wasn't done yet.
02:11 What will it take for you to win the championship?
02:13 The same as we did the last time I came here.
02:15 To come home with the championship, nonetheless.
02:17 Since 2017, the country has already won the annual Dubai International Basketball Championship.
02:23 And in 2020, the Philippine championship will be a historic one.
02:28 The first for a non-Middle East team.
02:32 With this year's lineup, will the country's road to gold be repeated?
02:37 The main goal is to win a championship, but we'll just take one game at a time.
02:42 For me, I'm just giving my best to challenge them.
02:47 The confidence is high when you're with an NBA player.
02:50 It's interesting to see because Coach Charles is the head coach of this team.
03:01 But the head consultant is Coach Brian Gourge, and Coach Brian is of course a legendary coach.
03:07 All my Filipino fans that will be in Dubai, be there.
03:12 There you have it, Kapuso.
03:14 We've met the members of Strong Group Athletics,
03:18 who will compete in the 33rd Dubai International Basketball Championships,
03:22 representing the Philippines.
03:25 Their team is very strong, so I hope they can win the championship for the country.
03:30 For GMA Integrated News, I'm Martin Aviar, changing the game!
