00:00In medical terms, oral health services are included in the PhilHealth package.

00:05But do every Filipino use it?

00:08Let's find out in the story of Noel Talacan.

00:13Michael doesn't earn enough to be a janitor to prioritize his oral health.

00:19I'll choose to spend more on my baby before I brush my teeth.

00:27He says he has PhilHealth.

00:29But he wasn't able to afford to brush his teeth, so he spent P800.

00:36I brush my teeth, brushing my teeth is expensive.

00:40It's not included in PhilHealth.

00:43According to the study of the Philippine Dental Association,

00:477 out of 10 Filipinos have tooth decay.

00:525 out of 10 Filipinos have an oral health problem,

00:56such as a problem in the throat and poor oral health.

01:00That's why in 2025, the PhilHealth benefits include oral care or preventive oral health services

01:07where it is now free to brush your teeth and brush your teeth and other oral care.

01:13One thousand each year of each PhilHealth beneficiaries are included here.

01:18Also included in the new PhilHealth benefits are pediatric optometrics services

01:23where children aged 0 to 15 years old can have consultations in their eyes

01:28and have free glasses in their eyes.

01:31However, there are still some barriers.

01:33So our challenge now, since we have a lot of changes,

01:36like the optometrics services,

01:39consultations are not yet declared in the accreditation of consultations providers.

01:45Included here is the dental care package.

01:48For example, in the National Capital Region,

01:51more than 800 consultations facilities are required to cater for the 17 million population.

01:57But only 468 consultations facilities currently have NCR.

02:02This is only 15% of the total number of accredited consultations facilities in the country.

02:07That's why PhilHealth is calling on the medical clinics of the country to be accredited as consultations facilities.

02:15PhilHealth will also strengthen the Outpatient Care Benefit and Physical Medicine Rehabilitation and Assistive Devices

02:24as part of their 30th Anniversary and National Health Insurance Month this month.
