00:05 >> And Stevens and Davis Maddock getting you ready for
00:08 the outright odds this week where Davis an interesting format at the American Express.
00:13 It's played at PGA West, but technically at three different golf courses,
00:18 three different properties, two courses at PGA West and
00:22 over the key to Country Club as well.
00:25 So a week in the desert out in California, Davis,
00:28 what do people need to know about these tracks that will set the stage for
00:32 the American Express here in 2024?
00:34 >> Well, I suppose what they need to know is that generally this event plays
00:40 pretty easy relative to a PGA Tour event.
00:43 The stadium course is super easy.
00:47 La Quinta is not particularly difficult.
00:50 And then the Nicholas course out of PGA West is of the three that they play is,
00:56 I suppose, the hardest of the three.
00:59 It's a pretty unique format where the cut does not come until Sunday.
01:04 So already this season we have had a no cut event.
01:07 We've had a standard event where you play Thursday,
01:09 Friday, the cut happens on Friday afternoon.
01:11 Now what happens is everyone is going to play three rounds.
01:15 Obviously you play one day at all three of the tournaments and
01:19 then we get the final round on Sunday.
01:21 It's also a pro-am, which means it's not that great for TV.
01:26 The shot tracker does not work that well and
01:28 your round is gonna take about six hours, which it makes betting on these events.
01:33 Kind of hard by the way, it's just the sweat is gonna be a little bit more
01:37 difficult, but at least because all these guys are out on three different courses,
01:41 we don't have the thing that just absolutely plagued the PGA Tour last year.
01:45 Ben, I don't know how much you bet on individual matchups and stuff, but
01:50 last year the PGA Tour kept having to suspend rounds for darkness.
01:55 And it would mess everything up.
01:57 It would mess head to head releases on fan duel.
02:00 They can't release because they don't know who's playing and
02:03 it just would mess up my spreadsheets.
02:05 It was a real nightmare.
02:07 I hope the PGA Tour takes all of that stuff more seriously.
02:10 And then I guess actually probably the most important thing to mention is that
02:14 this is a relatively strong field.
02:16 We've gotten so used in the era of live golf where the fields are not that strong
02:21 and we're heading into event and Adam Hadwin is the third favorite to win.
02:27 Not the case this week.
02:28 We do have a real field of high level golfers playing.
