00:05Uh let me start with this.
00:07What underwins this tournament
00:09because this feels like a
00:10birdie fest USA. No. Oh,
00:13there's no doubt about that
00:15Joe. Par seventy-two scorecard
00:17measuring just a little over
00:187100 yards with four par fives.
00:21Um the average winning score
00:23over the last 5 years is 19
00:25under par. Uh the last 10
00:26winners have averaged somewhere
00:28in the ballpark of twenty-four
00:29So, you know, a third of the
00:31holes that they're going to
00:32play, they're going to make
00:33birdie or better on. So, and at
00:35the length that these guys are
00:36going to play, we have nine par
00:38fours of the ten. They're under
00:40435 yards. These guys drive the
00:42ball 300 yards in the air.
00:44That's a wedge to attack all of
00:46these holes and if you look
00:47historically at the guys that
00:48have played well here, not just
00:50the Heath Tagala who's
00:51defending champion but then the
00:52two years before that, Max
00:54Homa, when Max was in the prime
00:56of his playing ability, right?
00:57He he was driving the ball in
00:59play all the time and he's a
01:01super good putter. Very
01:02opportunistic. So, he hits it
01:03close with a wedge and he makes
01:05a ton of birdies and that's why
01:06he was such a good fit here.
01:07Now, Max has got a lot on his
01:09plate right now. He's the last
01:10captain selection for this
01:12President's Cup team and those
01:13matches happen in 2 weeks.
01:15There's six guys here that are
01:17in the matches that are
01:18competing in the Pro Court
01:19Championship and in Tagala,
01:22Wyndham Clark, Max Homa, these
01:23guys at the top of the board,
01:25Corey Connors, I get the feeling
01:27that as we talk about, you
01:28know, the favorites and
01:29everything, I'm going to look
01:30past those guys because overall,
01:33I think they have to be,
01:34especially Tagala, even as the
01:35defending champ. He, it's his
01:37first time going to one of
01:38these matches. It's his first
01:40President's Cup for Wyndham
01:41Clark. Yes, he went to Rome last
01:42year for the Ryder Cup. You
01:43know, Max Homa's got a lot on
01:45his plate. He's just switched
01:45coaches. I mean, these guys,
01:47I'm going to skip past the
01:48President's Cup guys when I
01:50look at the pro core, you know,
01:51kind of early leans and I'm
01:53definitely going to be looking
01:53further down the board when we
01:55get to that point. Just over
01:57two weeks away, the 2024
01:59President's Cup up in Montreal
02:01between Team USA and the
02:03international team as well.
02:05We'll talk about that in a few
02:07weeks time. So Keith, you
02:08mentioned looking deeper down
02:10the board can always be a time
02:11during the fall series on the
02:13PGA tour to find some big plus
02:15money prices. Who gets your
02:16attention? Well, you know what?
02:19Over the last 10 years, the
02:21average pre-tournament odds of
02:23the winners have been somewhere
02:25around 90 to one or plus 9000.
02:27So we got to look a little bit
02:28deeper down the board. Oh,
02:29yeah. So there's one guy that
02:32we've been talking about a
02:33couple of times off and on,
02:34whether it was golf Wednesday
02:35or with you guys on Tuesday
02:36morning. And that's J.J.
02:38Spahn back in Minnesota at the
02:403M top 10 ninth. He was on
02:42nobody's radar and we were
02:44playing him at read the line a
02:45week later. He goes to the
02:46Wyndham and he comes in third.
02:48Now, he didn't make the
02:49playoffs because he had a nice
02:50run toward the end of his
02:51season, but he's still hitting
02:53the ball great over his last
02:54five starts. He's gaining over
02:56seven strokes against the
02:57field, and he sits right at
02:59that 40 to one mark, that plus
03:014000. Now, as we start talking
03:03about him here on sports grid,
03:04that number is going to drop.
03:05So I would jump after him
03:06early. He's definitely one of
03:07my early leans on the early
03:09line. The other guy, speaking
03:10of fours, fourth place last
03:12year here at the Pro Core
03:13Championship, Eric Cole, and
03:15he's been a little hot lately.
03:16Now, his big Pachadillo is
03:19getting the ball in play off
03:20the tee. You don't have to hit
03:21driver everywhere here at the
03:23Silverado Resort on the North
03:25Course, which they play this
03:26tournament and have since 2014.
03:28So it definitely favors Cole,
03:30who's an excellent wedge player
03:32and unbelievable putter and
03:33score. Guy makes a ton of sub
03:35par scores, and that's why he
03:37was fourth here last year. He's
03:38sitting at plus 4500. So those
03:40two are very good early leans
03:42on the early line.
