Many New Yorkers and international visitors were out snapping photos of snow on Jan. 16. The wintry weather broke one of the longest snowless streaks on record.

00:00 Late night flurries led to big flakes in the Big Apple.
00:04 I have to go to Central Park and take some pictures.
00:08 It's been 701 days since Central Park saw an inch or more of snow on the ground.
00:14 Many New Yorkers and their dogs thrilled to see the snowless streak finally come to an end.
00:20 My dog's name is Cyrus. He loves it. He can't wait to go around and do zoomies in the snow.
00:26 He's getting super excited. It's just a magical moment.
00:31 You see it in the movies, you see it on TV, snow in New York, especially snow in Central Park.
00:37 And you just dream about it.
00:40 It was no snow day for most kids in Manhattan.
00:43 But teachers say there's no better way to learn about science and the weather.
00:48 They're going to be so excited. A few weeks ago when there were just snow flurries,
00:52 they were like running to the windows, "Oh my gosh, it's snowing. This is cool."
00:56 So it's a real treat.
00:57 It's not just lifelong New Yorkers excited to see this wintry weather.
01:01 Some people made an international trek hoping to see snow in the Big Apple.
01:05 One family even made a journey from the Netherlands.
01:09 I really like snow and cold weather, so I'm usually going in January to America just to see this.
01:14 It's more romantic and all the iconic landmarks are so beautiful then.
01:19 There were some travel troubles for commuters and delays at the airports.
01:24 But for many, this was a snow day to remember.
01:27 This is my baby's first snow, so I have to go to take a picture in the Central Park with her.
01:34 I won't miss the moment.
01:35 Everybody around the world wants to go to New York for snow, so why not, right?
01:41 This is a big moment for us here in New York.
01:43 Reporting in New York for AccuWeather, I'm Bill Waddell.
