The AFP-led Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE) is urging parents and carers to take privacy precautions before posting back-to-school photos online. As the new school year begins many families take the opportunity to post happy snaps of their kids wearing their uniforms, at their school or with other identifying features. See how to blur or remove identifying information here.

00:00 Parents and carers, it's back to school time, so here are some pointers on how to
00:03 hide identifying information if you're sharing images of your child on social
00:08 media. First, go to Instagram and upload your photo to your story. Tap the three
00:13 dots in the top right corner, tap draw, and use the slider tool on the left to
00:17 adjust the size of your brush. On the bottom you'll see a dropper. If you tap
00:22 this tool you can then color match to any color in the photo. You can then
00:26 color match to the school logo to cover it, and you can do this with school signs
00:30 in the background too, or with lanyards, school pins, name stickers, anything that
00:34 shows the child's name or location. You can also use an emoji to cover the logo.
00:39 This isn't the most high-tech method but it is free and easy to use. And remember,
00:45 avoid posting images of children in front of your house or in front of their
00:48 school. The more information available about a child online, the easier it can
00:53 be for child sex offenders to build a profile to groom.
