00:00 Man has consciousness, man has decision making ability.
00:07 If man compares himself to a lion or a wolf, then he is debasing himself.
00:13 Is he not?
00:14 You are a man, you are a creature of high consciousness.
00:17 Why do you want to follow the dietary pattern of a wolf, which is a creature of a low consciousness?
00:25 So man has choice, therefore man has to practice compassion for his own sake.
00:33 Man has to ask himself, is it the only way possible to feed my stomach?
00:39 Do I really have to kill consciousness to sustain consciousness?
00:43 And even if I have to kill consciousness to sustain consciousness, does it have to be
00:48 an animal which has a relatively higher level of consciousness compared to grass?
00:54 Man is conscious, animal is conscious and the grass is conscious.
01:00 All three are conscious, right?
01:03 But man's consciousness is extremely high and it has the potential to go even higher,
01:09 greatly higher.
01:10 The sky, I mean the sky is not the limit.
01:14 That high man's consciousness can go.
01:17 So man is conscious, the animal is conscious, the animal is conscious is an in between kind
01:22 of consciousness.
01:24 The grass too is conscious, the grass's consciousness is very lowly, very basic.
01:30 So if the man's body is designed in a way that it has to have food and food will necessarily
01:37 involve killing.
01:38 You are very right, as you said, life eats life.
01:41 You are very right that for one biological form to survive, it has to consume another
01:46 biological form.
01:48 But I have the choice which biological form do I kill for my physical sustenance, this
01:54 or this.
01:56 This is animal and this is grass.
02:02 Given the choice, I will choose not to kill a relatively higher form of consciousness.
02:09 And in this I fully admit that even when I am eating the grass or the radish or the apple,
02:15 violence is still involved.
02:17 But I am helpless.
02:21 If I have to avoid even that level of violence, then I have to commit suicide or I shouldn't
02:28 have been born.
02:30 If the body is to be sustained, then the minimum level of killing has to happen.
02:37 But what's important is the word minimum.
02:41 Keep it to the minimum, keep it to the minimum.
02:43 It's not a matter of absolutes.
02:44 It's not in binaries.
02:45 You cannot say that I will not kill a living being at all.
02:50 If you will not kill a living being at all, you won't survive.
02:52 Simple.
02:53 And anyway living beings are getting killed in your throat, in your gut, on your skin,
02:59 every moment.
03:00 Even as you inhale, you take in so many microbes and they are all getting killed.
03:08 You don't even know, you take in a fizzy drink and you do not know what kind of slaughter
03:14 it has done in your elementary canal from here till there.
03:23 But that's the minimum.
03:24 What do I do?
03:25 What do I do?
03:26 Even as I step on the floor, something is getting killed.
03:32 I cannot avoid it.
03:34 But I should avoid what is avoidable.
03:36 Killing an animal is avoidable.
03:37 I should avoid it.
03:39 By saying that I am not at all saying that I am not guilty of killing at all.
03:47 Even the purest vegetarian or vegan is committing some level of killing.
03:54 But he can be exonerated if that killing has been kept to a minimum.
04:00 That's the word minimum.
04:02 Keep it to a minimum.
04:03 Keep it to a minimum.
04:05 Keep it to a level that is unavoidable.
04:08 You should say this level, beyond this level, sir, I couldn't have gone and if I need to
04:13 go beyond this level, then I just need to give up the body.
04:17 When you kill to eat, don't you have an option?
04:22 As human beings, the lion does not have an option.
04:24 If you have an option, why don't you exercise it?
04:26 You have to answer.
04:29 You have to answer and science is totally out on this.
04:34 There are no secrets left.
04:39 When you eat flesh, you are doing great damage to even your own biological system and you
04:45 are doing great damage to this entire ecosystem and still you are hell bent on killing.
04:52 You are doing damage to both your consciousness as well as your body and needless to say,
05:04 to the environment, ecosystem.
05:07 We have talked in detail on how flesh consumption is related to climate change.
05:12 Thank you.
