00:05 Hello and welcome to another edition of 5 Things to Do when we finally get to look forward to the first week of February.
00:11 Now I can't promise spring flowers and sunshine but I can offer a few entertaining gems while we wait.
00:16 We start this week with a northern favourite on the comedy circuit, Dave Spikey is appearing in the King George's Hall in Blackburn on Thursday 1st February.
00:24 The show looks at his humble working class childhood in the small terraced houses around the mills of Bolton to getting a job in the pathology department at Bolton General Hospital and working there for 32 years.
00:34 Ultimately as Chief Biomedical Scientist in Haematology before throwing caution to the wind and leaving to pursue a career in comedy.
00:42 If you do, tickets for that one are priced at £20.
00:46 Music next as we head to the New Continental Pub in Preston where the Leeds University Union Big Band will perform on Sunday 4th February.
00:54 Formed in 1987, this 21-piece big band will play a wide variety of great music.
00:59 Played to a top shelf standard with a range of classic to contemporary, burning energy to tasteful subtlety.
01:06 Tickets are £10 in advance or £12 on the door and under 11s go free with ticket holders.
01:11 Doors open at 1.30pm for a 2pm band start and all within one of Preston's finest pubs. What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
01:19 Now for something a little different because on Saturday 3rd February the Spitfire Visitor Centre at Blackpool Airport are holding an open day.
01:27 The Hangar 42 collection is made up of 5 Spitfire replicas, all various marks.
01:32 The collection also includes Hawk Hurricane Mark 1 with all the aircraft currently being restored with original wartime parts bringing these iconic aircraft back to life.
01:40 Expect informative tours on the exhibits and Lancashire's rich wartime history.
01:45 Tickets are priced at £10 for adults, £5 for children aged 6-16 and £3 for under-60s.
01:51 We stay in Blackpool now and it's much more music as the ultimate celebration of Queen comes to the town's Winter Gardens.
01:58 Regarded as one of the best Queen tribute bands around, this is the ultimate celebration of one of the biggest bands to have ever graced the stage.
02:05 They'll be playing all your favourite hits including Don't Stop Me Now, I Wanna Break Free, We Are Champions, We Will Rock You, Bohemian Rhapsody and much more.
02:12 The concert is on Thursday 1st February and three different ticket prices range from around £13-40.
02:18 Lastly, in the interests of variety, how about The Wizard of Oz Ballet.
02:23 The Atkinson Theatre in Southport are hosting Ballet Theatre UK as we follow the Yellow Brick Road and discover all the wonders of Oz.
02:30 Enjoy Dorothy, The Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion and yes, Tototo as they seek the wonderful wizard to find us no place like home.
02:38 Set to a classical score which brings the story to life, this production is family friendly and is the perfect way to introduce children to the classical ballet.
02:46 The production is presented with beautiful backdrops, stunning theatrical sets and costumes.
02:51 It's on Wednesday 31st January and tickets are £18 and £10 for under-16s.
02:57 Something for everyone there, that's what we aim for. Join me next week for another 5 Things To Do but in the meantime, have a fabulous week, take care and we'll see you next time.
03:05 time.
