00:00 For Baymo Central.com, I'm Katie Windham alongside Blake Beiler for Baymo Central Courtside after the Crimson Tides
00:05 109 to 88 victory over LSU. Sixth time this season Alabama puts up over 100 points. First time an SEC play
00:13 Blake, what jumped out to you about Alabama's performance in this game tonight?
00:17 Well, I think just the way that this team plays offense, just how dangerous they are.
00:23 We haven't seen it in a couple games and I think it kind of reminded everybody that like
00:26 there are nights where even where they're not hitting a ton of threes, I think Alabama shot 38,
00:31 37 percent from three again, which is really good, but it's not the best that they could be. It's not outrageous, right?
00:37 They still were able to put up 109 points just because of how efficient all of these offense, these players are on the offensive end.
00:44 I mean Mark Sears had 21, Wrights on Estrada had either 18 or 19.
00:49 Can't remember which had which. I think every member of the starting five had at least 12 points and it's changed up that starting
00:54 five to get more of a boost and we saw that.
00:56 So just the fact that this team can put up 109 points while not even having an insane shooting night says a lot, but
01:05 in the press conference Oates was not really happy about that.
01:09 He was just concerned about the defensive effort, the fact that they gave up 88 even though they won by
01:14 21 points.
01:15 He was not happy with the defensive effort and said Alabama is not gonna be winning a championship if they can't get that side of
01:21 the ball fixed.
01:23 It's kind of what we've heard all season and we've seen games where they play well and then we've seen games
01:28 kind of like tonight where
01:30 the other team has a good shooting night, Alabama doesn't play as well.
01:34 It was nice to see them still be able to come away with a 20-point win
01:38 despite that, but it's something that they're gonna need to fix especially
01:42 like Oates said when you have to go on the road to Auburn, go on the road to Kentucky,
01:46 you still have to play Tennessee in this building.
01:48 It's gonna be a lot harder to beat those teams and win a league championship if they're not playing defense to the standard.
01:53 Yeah, I mean look, they're saying that the defense is gonna have to fix like you said it's been an issue all season long and
01:58 of course that's gonna be Oates kind of emphasis in the postgame as much as he likes
02:03 defense and blue-collar effort and things like that.
02:05 But I mean also in the postgame we're talking to the players, Aaron Estrada says
02:08 when we score 100 points not a lot of teams are gonna be able to beat us and so from the player perspective
02:13 and I think maybe that's part of the problem, but it's the mindset of you know,
02:16 if they score enough, then they maybe don't have to defend as well, which that's true to some extent, but also
02:22 we've seen Nato's championship teams play defense at a high level. We've seen the ones that struggled not play defense as well. And so
02:29 but tonight it was enough. The offense really showed out with
02:33 over a hundred points.
02:36 Like you said we saw five different guys and double digits scoring and so it just once again showed the depth and the offensive prowess
02:42 of this team. I guess an LSU team that's greatly improved from last season, not the best in the league,
02:47 but definitely not the worst either.
02:49 Next up for the Crimson Tide will be a trip to Georgia on Wednesday before they'll be back in Colman Coliseum next Saturday against Mississippi State.
