00:03 So, you're planning a trip this June but don't know where to go?
00:06 Well, you're in the right place. Welcome to our Where to Go Next series by far,
00:10 where our team of travel experts look at destinations around the world and recommend
00:14 some top picks. These places shine especially bright in June, whether it be the longer daylight
00:20 hours or the music festivals. So let's get into it.
00:23 [Music]
00:29 Plenty of travelers come to the south of France each summer, and for good reason. The lure of
00:35 the turquoise blue waters of the Mediterranean or the multicolored paintings of the Marc Chagall
00:39 Museum. June is a time to experience the vibrancy of the region and it's noticeably less busy here
00:46 than in July and August. Scuba diving season is well underway in Malaysia's Perhentian Islands
00:53 come June, with visibility underwater at its best from April to October. The waters around
00:58 the islands are full of life, so be on the lookout for some octopus, reef sharks, stingrays,
01:04 or even whale sharks. Next up on our list is Gstaad, Switzerland, a well-known ski destination
01:12 where celebrities from Madonna to Princess Diana have visited. But come June, its slopes transform
01:18 into excellent hiking trails, so don't forget to pack a bathing suit for a chance to swim
01:23 in its mountain lakes. The start of the summer means long daylight hours for Nordic countries
01:29 like Iceland, like 20 to 22 hours of daylight long. June is one of the best months to explore
01:36 Iceland's everlasting daylight, and we love exploring the remote Westfjords region and the
01:41 hot springs around Reykjavik. Summer is music festival season, and one of our favorites is
01:48 the annual Bluegrass Festival in Telluride, Colorado. Expect bluegrass and folk performers
01:54 during this four-day party in the Rockies. Sure, you could celebrate Pride in San Francisco or
02:02 Chicago, but for a change of scene, how about Pride Month on the shores of Tel Aviv? In June,
02:08 the city holds a Pride Festival with parades, beach parties, and DJ-powered events,
02:13 sending a burst of energy through the already bustling city. June brings dry season to
02:19 Sub-Saharan Africa, and so come the rhinos and elephants closer to water sources. That means
02:25 there's plenty of opportunity to see animals in the Okavango Delta and around Botswana's
02:30 national parks. June 19th marks Juneteenth, a U.S. holiday commemorating the end of slavery
02:37 after the Civil War. Texas was the first state to make Juneteenth a holiday, so why not start
02:43 here? Expect outdoor events in Houston's Emancipation Park and in Galveston Island,
02:48 known as the birthplace of Juneteenth. If you've always dreamed of seeing the famed
02:54 silverback gorillas in the wild, June is the start of Rwanda's gorilla trekking season.
02:58 Look for the endangered species on a trip to Volcanoes National Park,
03:02 where you can find gorilla families eating, sleeping, playing, or grooming each other.
03:10 Thanks for watching this video by afar. We know there are so many more excellent destinations to
03:15 visit in June, so let us know in the comments what are some of your favorite places to visit
03:20 this time of year. Please remember to hit that like button on your way out,
03:23 and subscribe for more travel tips and inspiration. Happy travels!
