Walsall reporter George Bennett discusses some of the key points to come from Mat Sadler's pre-Gillingham press conference
Transcript
00:00 Hi Sadler's fans. I spoke to Matt Sadler earlier today ahead of Walsall's trip to
00:04 Jullingham on Saturday but before we get into any talk about the game there were a few notable
00:10 updates from the treatment room starting with a devastating blow for Harry Williams who is
00:17 expected to miss the remainder of the season. He will undergo surgery on a hip flexor injury which
00:22 he sustained towards the back end of last month. Sadler originally forecast a potential return
00:30 for the end of January but unfortunately he has suffered another injury setback so a major blow
00:37 for the young defender who joined the club from Alverchurch in the summer and was really signed
00:43 as a future prospect his first season in the EFL but a couple of injuries presented him with
00:50 good runs in the side and one standout performance was in the 3-1 victory against Bradford City at
00:58 Valley Parade in September. Elsewhere new signing Jamie Jealous tweaked his hamstring in his final
01:05 appearance for Tamworth that was why there was a delay in the negotiations for his signing.
01:11 Matt Sadler has pencilled in a possible return in mid-February. There was positive news concerning
01:17 Aramidote he's been out with a hamstring injury since October. He completed the final stages of
01:24 his rehabilitation at St George's Park in mid-January and returned to Essington for kind of
01:30 a mini pre-season. Sadler said there was a small possibility he could be in contention for Gillingham
01:36 but if not then it's probably looking a possibility for Tuesday against Morecambe or Saturday
01:42 against Newport and obviously it's transfer deadline day. Sadler said previously that he's
01:48 happy with his squad and doesn't expect any new signings. I also asked if there's any possible
01:54 outgoings and Sadler says he doesn't expect any movement. His phone's off and he expects a quiet
02:00 evening so whilst many other clubs will be scrambling to get their business done it seems
02:05 like Walsall's is fully complete.
