Michael Plant reflects on a superb game at Molineux, with Kobbie Mainoo's injury-time goal winning it for Manchester United.
Transcript
00:00 Manchester United earned a superb 4-3 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers tonight in an absolutely enthralling game here at Molineux.
00:08 United absolutely dominated the first half, it could have been more than the two goals that they scored via Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hoyland.
00:15 They missed some superb chances to make it 3-4-0, actually a two goals rule out for offside.
00:20 And we were thinking at half time with Eric ten Hag naming probably his strongest line-up of the season.
00:25 But this is exactly the blueprint that he wants his side to operate in, how he wants his team to play and what we've been wanting to see all season from Manchester United.
00:33 But of course they've got these Achilles heels, these fragilities that just keep coming back to bite them.
00:38 They made it 2-1, Sarabia scoring from a very dubious penalty.
00:42 And again, you thought then from that point United were going to kick on, they made it 3-1 via Scott McTominay.
00:47 Should have comfortably held out to see the game out, but it ended up 3-3.
00:52 Goals from Kilman and then Pedro Neto, Neto in injury time.
00:56 Surely at that stage you thought all the drama was done, but no.
00:59 Kobe Mane who popped up with his first Premier League goal to wrap up an incredible night and make it 4-3.
01:06 All the players as soon as the final whistle went, ran straight to him to celebrate.
01:10 He had another great game, some really good performances from United.
01:13 Certainly from an attacking sense, thought United were really good.
01:15 Rashford, Hoyland played really well. Scott McTominay had a fantastic impact when he came on as well.
01:20 Garnaccio had some bright moments. United in general, really good going forward.
01:24 But there's these steam issues defensively.
01:26 So easy to run through the middle of two of the goals just came from Wolves.
01:29 Streaming through the middle of that midfield.
01:31 I remember talking about that after the opening game of the season against Wolves.
01:33 They still haven't addressed that issue.
01:35 Varane pulled out of position. Casemiro on another day could have been sent off.
01:38 Although I did think the penalty decision was harsh.
01:40 And I think this is a reminder that, listen, there are some good aspects about United.
01:43 They can play well, they are capable of doing some good things on the pitch.
01:46 But ultimately there's still so many issues for this team to deal with.
01:49 There's still so many aspects of Ten Hag's approach.
01:52 I think the games that are questionable and defensively, they are just not strong enough to hold out games.
01:58 They lack the mentality. They lack leadership as well.
02:01 And ultimately, United, probably a little bit fortunate in a way to get away.
02:11 Apologies about that. United in a way fortunate to get away.
02:14 Probably with a win. They probably did deserve it overall.
02:17 But unfortunately, as I say, after that second half, they came away with a victory.
02:19 It's an important win. The season matches now to move up to seven.
02:21 But they need to try and get more complete 90-minute displays.
02:24 it displays.
