Man City 3-1 Man Utd: Post-match reaction

Our reporters Michael Plant and Adam Lord discuss Manchester City's 3-1 win over Manchester United on Sunday.

00:00 We're at the Etihad where this afternoon Manchester City came from a goal behind to win 3-1 in

00:05 the Derby. Ultimately a very important three points for City in the race for first place

00:10 in the title. For United, a disappointing afternoon in terms of their race for the Champions

00:14 League but from a City perspective, what did you make of the performance Adam and how pleased

00:18 will Pep Guardiola be with the three points?

00:21 Three points, absolutely. That was the be all and end all today wasn't it, to keep up

00:24 with the pressure on Liverpool. Performance wise, was it an accelerating best? Probably

00:28 not. Was it discipline? Yeah, because they controlled the ball from minute one. Mark

00:32 Dresda's goal didn't really change that. It wasn't a setback, United weren't able to build

00:37 on it. City just kept probing and probing and eventually, with a little help from Mr

00:41 Foden, got their way through in the second half. They are worthy winners.

00:46 Yeah, I'd agree. Totally from a City perspective, in the end, as you say, the quality shone

00:50 through. I don't think I actually said at the start of this video what the score was.

00:58 later on. Ultimately, City's quality shone through. United, when they looked at the bench,

01:02 they just didn't have the same sort of options to turn to. They brought on the likes of Amr

01:06 Bhatt, Thorson and I think ultimately that, as I say, proved decisive in this game. I

01:11 think it's worth remembering, in the end it was pretty comfortable for City, but for the

01:14 first hour or so, this was a game that we were pretty pleased with their performance

01:18 and how gritty and determined they were. It's not always been the case this season for United

01:22 and after the first hour, it was certainly much better than I thought it was going to

01:26 be. But as I say, in the end, City's quality shone through. Fantastic performance from

01:31 him. United, even through the first half, struggled to stop him. Struggled to stop him

01:36 getting on the ball, creating chances. Haaland, well, he missed a sitter in the first half.

01:40 I've never seen a... I mean, that is a miss of the season from anybody, like Erling Haaland.

01:45 It was... well, the silence the stadium was all afternoon, I don't think anyone could

01:48 believe it. No, I don't mean... but he missed that one chance. You give him a second chance

01:52 as Amr Bhatt did later on in the game at the start of injury time and he's not going to

01:55 miss. So, as I say, it turned into a pretty comfortable game here in the end, but for

02:00 the first hour it wasn't. I think it's worth remembering that from a United perspective.

02:03 But as I say, City ultimately get a very, very important three points. Leaves United

02:07 11 points off the Champions League place. That could prove too big a gap to catch in
